#Callie's P.O.V#
I awaken in a dark room. No. Wait. I have my eyes closed. Oops.I slowly open my eyes.
THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF A DARK ROOM. IT'S TOO BRIGHT SAVE ME!!
I blink a few times, adjusting to the light. I can't really move,no can only blink and open my eyes.
As I'm about to try to speak, thoughts of what happened make their way into my head.
"Wow! Even her voice is weird!"
It is, isn't it? It's annoying, it's weird, nobody should hear it. It sounds stupid. It hurts people's ears. I just shouldn't talk. Yeah, that's it. I won't talk.I get snapped out of my thoughts by someone coming in, then shouting.
"She's awake, she's awake! Guys, she's awake!" The voice calls out. I try to move again, and this time I can.
I slowly move my head, looking at all of the people who came rushing in. Lizzie, Joel, Amelia, and Yammy.
I somehow manage to sit up on my bed, I'm in the hospital if you couldn't tell, by the way.
I look at everyone, then to a blank space on the wall. I just stare at it for what seems like forever.
Well, that is until a nurse walks in. "Hey sweety, I'm nurse Katie (random) and I'm going to ask you a few questions, okay?" She says.
I nod, as if I have a choice. I turn my attention to my fidgeting hands. Why am I so messed up?
"So, how are you feeling right now, as of pain, on a scale of 1-10? 1 being not very painful, 10 being very painful." Nurse Katie asks.
I hold up 4 fingers. My leg hurts pretty bad.
She writes something down on her paper, which is being held by a clipboard. "Okay, how sick (I accidentally typed sock) are you feeling, scale of 1-10? Again, 1 being not too sick, 10 being super sick." She asks.
I hold up 1 finger.
She writes more down. "Okay. Can you move your fingers and toes?" She asks.
I nod, demonstrating.
"Okay, how is your voice?" She asks. Ugh. I knew this question would come up eventually.
I shrug.
"Have you tried?" She asks again, writing more down on her clipboard.
Again, I shrug. I glance up from my fidgeting hands, seeing the worried expressions of everyone. I look back at my hands.
"Can you try right now?" She asks me.
I shake my head, continuing to stare at my hands.
"Is there any particular reason why, sweety?" She asks in her mandatory sweet voice.
I shrug. I glance up again, making eye contact with Amelia this time. She looks like she finally got struck with realization. She tilts her head. I know what she means. I nod, and her expression turns angry, but sad.
My gaze goes back to my hands.
"Okay, sweety, you can get some rest. I'll be back in a few hours to draw blood." She says.
Draw blood.
(FLASHBACK)
"We have to draw some of your blood, we're going to see if you can help your mommy!" The nurse says excitedly."O-okay." I stutter, still scared of interacting with other people.
I've never really been outside the house. Actually, this is only my 3rd time. 'He' doesn't like me being out. Well, when something happens to 'his' wife, he has to bring me out.
"Okay, ready?" The nurse asks.
I nod. A sharp needle pierces my skin, taking blood.
(Few Hours Later)
"I'm sorry, but she could not be saved, she has died." The nurse says. My mom is dead.
****(Skip a few years)****
He smashes the bottle on my head. I pass out from the lack of blood and the pain, awakening to find myself in a hospital room. I start to panic, realising 'he' is going to freak.I go into a panic attack, people surrounding me.
"Honey, stay still we have to draw blood..."
*FLASHBACK OVER*
Shaking, I lean back. I hate getting blood drawn, that's how all of this started.
The nurse pulls Lizzie and Joel out, leaving Amelia and Yammy in the room with me.
"Callie, what's wrong? You're shaking like a leaf." Yammy states.
I shrug.
"Do you want me to lay with you?" Amelia asks, cutting into the conversation.
I nod, making room for her.
She lays down an d whispers in my ear; "Is it because of the cafeteria thing? You know, you not talking?"
I nod, causing her to hug and cuddle into me. I drift to sleep for a second, before waking to see Amelia telling Lizzie what happened in the cafeteria and why I'm not talking. I assume Yammy has left, since she isn't anywhere around.
Lizzie's expression sinks. She glances at me, pointing out that I'm awake.
Lizzie and Joel walk out of the room with the nurse again, I'm assuming they're telling her everything.
Moments later, Amelia still cuddling me, Lizzie, Joel, and the nurse. The nurse is holing a small whiteboard/dry erase board.
She hands me the board and a black dry-erase marker.
"Okay, we've been told what happened, so, to help you build up to talking, well use this." Nurse Katie says.
Though I know I'm not talking, I still write out, 'okay.' On the board.
Nurse Katie nods, while another nurse walks in, carrying a bucket filled with different types of needles and cleaning pads and band-aids.
I start to panic, trying to scoot back, but soon realizing Amelia is right there. She wraps her hands around my waist, leaning her head on the crook of my neck.
Nurse Katie slowly draws blood, soon putting a band-aid over it.
"That wasn't so bad, now was it?" She asks.
I write on the board.
'It was terrible. Maybe not to anyone else, but to me.'She reads it, her face softening. She immediately gives and apologetic look at me.
I just shrug.
Actually, not talking isn't that bad. People don't have to hear my terrible voice, so it helps other people.
Well, looks like this is how I am now.
I'm mute.

(A/N) Hello. I'm just letting you know now, that I don't quite know how some of this works, like becoming mute. Sorry if I get anything terribly wrong.Byeeeeeeeeee
