Chapter 12: Hurt, again

                      #Callie's P.O.V#
             ***Monday, March 31***

I slide out of bed, get dressed, then grab my backpack and leave my room. I make sure I have my ring on, then put on my shoes.

"Ready?" Lizzie asks as I enter the living room.

I nod, and she slides on a coat, then grabs her keys and we walk outside, feet splashing in little puddles left by the rain.

"Have a good day at school, I'll pick you up later!" Lizzie says as I get out of the car at school.

I wave, then walk into the terrible building, wanting it to be June already, so I can get out of school.

I get to my locker, then footsteps lead up to me.

"Hey, nerd!" Will gets close to me.

I spin around, ready for a beating.

Hayden joins in the conversation, along with Haylee.

"Well, now you can get hurt three times as bad." Will smirks.

Will pins me against the wall while the others start punching me.

After the beating, which I got a black eye from, I go to my classes, then hide in the bathroom at lunch.

I run outside at the end of the day, desperate for Lizzie or Joel to be here.

My phone buzzes.

Lizzie💖: We'll be a little late, sorry! X

Callie: Its okay. I'll be fine for a few minutes more! X

Lieeeeesssss.

Apparently, this is the time Will comes out, which would usually be okay, because I'd be on my way home right now. But, of course, he notices me and walks over.

"Hey, nerd." He shoves my shoulder into the outside of the school. My shoulder hits the wall.

"What, mommy isn't here to pick you up?" He pins me up.

I lead my head back, but he shoves his hand on my neck, cutting off my breathing.

A car horn honks.

Please be Lizzie and Joel.

"WHAT THE HECK?" A car door slams. My vision goes blurry, but comes back when Will drops me, then kicks my stomach. I open my eyes and Will is starting to walk away.

Lizzie runs up to me.

Thank god.

Meanwhile, there's yelling from somewhere else.

I look over, and Joel is yelling at Will. Joel has Wills wrist and Will is trying to leave.

"Are you okay, Callie? Can you breathe?" Lizzie asks, helping me sit on the grass properly.

I grab my board.

'I'm fine.'

She helps me off the ground and leads me to the car. We get in, then see Joel walking into the school with a firm grasp on Wills wrist.

I take the kid by the wrist, tightly, and pull him into the school.

We go straight to the office.

"Hello- what's going on here?" The lady at the desk asks.

"This kid was caught pinning my daughter against the wall outside! He was choking her!" I snap, pushing the kid forward.

"William, is this true?" The lady asks.

"Y-yes ma'am." He mumbles.

"In the principals office. Now." She orders. He goes into another room, and she shuts the door, keeping him in there.

"Thank you for reporting. What is your daughters name?"

"Callie Shadow." I say.

"Thank you, we will take note of this and make sure it doesn't happen again."

She let's me leave soon, and I go to the car.

"What'd you do?" Lizzie asks.

"Nothing. Let's just say he won't hurt her."

We drive away from the school in a peaceful silence.

Once we get home, I go to my bathroom and look at my neck. It's really red, and looks like there's going to be a bad bruise. Great. Now people can make jokes about that.

I exit the bathroom and sit on my bed, thinking about absolutely nothing.

I really won't see Amelia for a while, she left today. I won't have anyone to talk to at 3 in the morning when I can't sleep. I won't have anyone to text when I need someone. She was my person that I would go to for everything. Now, she's gone.

"Callie, dinner!" Lizzie calls.

I get up and run downstairs. I eat, then go back upstairs and play on my phone.

Soon, it's 10 at night and I decide to sleep, since I have school tomorrow. Ew.
