Mingyu's lips greeted Seungkwan's a small kiss, his large hands cradling Seungkwan's face.

The two of them sat in Mingyu's living room, the house almost completely decorated for Mingyu's birthday party. Red balloons and streamers hung around the home, and a large photo of Mingyu in his basketball uniform hung above the front door, his large, toothy smile there for everyone to see. The guests would enter any moment now, ready to spoil Mingyu with presents and money and good times.

However, being able to finally kiss Seungkwan was his greatest gift.

Mingyu pulled away slowly, his hands still cupping Seungkwan's large cheeks. He could see the blush that had formed in them as Seungkwan looked anywhere but into his eyes. Mingyu ran his fingers through Seungkwan's messy, light brown hair, smiling bigger as Seungkwan practically fell into his warmth.

"I've been waiting a while to do that," Mingyu admitted, "I really like you, Seungkwan."

"Oh, shut up, my face is already hot," Seungkwan groaned, patting his face trying to remove the heat from them. He, however, still had a grin as big as Mingyu's.

"Everyone should be here in a moment," Mingyu spoke softly, "wish they would take their sweet time, though."

"Why? I thought you wanted to have this party. You've been planning it for weeks," Seungkwan wondered.

Mingyu's lips came in contact with Seungkwan's again before he smiled cheekily. "I want to kiss you more without having to worry about anyone intruding."

"You are so annoying," Seungkwan laughed, shoving Mingyu in the chest, "go check and make sure everything is set up before anyone shows up."

Mingyu stood from the couch, but made sure to turn to Seungkwan and give him a sloppy kiss on the forehead. "Later on, when everyone's in the heat of the party, I'm going to come steal many more kisses from you, Seungkwan, just wait and see."

Seungkwan again had to cover his reddening his cheeks as Mingyu's tall and lanky figure walked into the kitchen to set out more snacks for everyone. He watched as Mingyu's muscles bulged in his tight sweater, his mind wandering to unholy places.

In an effort to think about other things, Seungkwan stood from the couch as well, picking up his school backpack that he had brought along just in case he wanted to do some quick reading before anyone could show up (Mingyu, of course, had something else in mind). He walked down the hallway to Mingyu's room, where dropped the backpack onto the bed to hide from the guest.

Seungkwan glanced at the black bag for a moment, before opening the zipper to reveal Vernon's letter from the day before.

He avoided reading it. He was afraid of whatever could be inside, whether a story about something that happened in the past or even a note about how much Vernon missed him. He was still angry about how Vernon could lie to him and not even attempt to move on, although he knew that it would have been almost impossible for Vernon to do those.

Seungkwan carefully opened the letter, a sigh leaving him his lips. He would probably regret reading this later, but for now, he wanted to see the note that caused the entire argument between Vernon and Mingyu.

Seungkwan pulled out the note, which he could was stained with Vernon's tears by the crinkles in the small paper. Seungkwan turned his head to the door to check if Mingyu was watching, before reading the note.

Mingyu's won, hasn't he?

I tried my hardest, even while we dated - I knew that one day, Mingyu was going to beat me and take you away from me. I was never the best for you and I constantly hid my tears from you because even though you assured me you loved me, I knew that I couldn't provide everything you wanted. You deserve someone who is rich and smart and tall and athletic, everything I'm not. Although you have wanted me to be happy during our year together, you have taught me something more important.
