They had been driving for hours before they stopped, She found herself falling asleep again. When they had finally stopped they were at a small house in a wooded area. The house was a pale blue with white shutters and around it was an old white fence that was chipping. The grass was unkempt and it looked a little unsafe.

Looking over at him she wondered if this were they would be staying.

"It's a good safe house, no one will look for it." he said while getting out of the car.

Coming to the other side he opened the door and helped her out than reached in the back and got the duffle bags. Opening the door they were met with furniture covered with white sheets. The house only had one level so a large bed was in the middle to the side. The house consisted of a small kitchen a bathroom.

Sitting at the edge of the bed Lanoir tried to think of a realistic plan. She clearly couldn't make it into work any time soon. In the risk of being murdered in front of her co workers. She had earned enough vacation days two be gone for months but it was so sudden. But she would call in a take time off so nothing went south.

"Can I call out from work? So no one gets worried when I don't show up?" She asked while searching for her iphone but she couldn't find it.

"Here you can use this disposable phone, but you have to keep the call short no more than three minutes." he said while handing her the black flip phone.

Nodding she dialed Tim's number.

"Yeah boss what's up?" Tim yawned into the phone

"Hey sorry for calling so late but I won't be able to come into work for a couple of weeks." she said into the phone.

"Is everything okay babe? Whats with the short notice, do you need me to come over." he rushed out

"No no, look my mom called me short notice and I have to be home to take care of some family matters. I'm already heading towards the airport so just cancel anything that can't be rescheduled and i'll handle what ever else when I get back. I have to go now i'll be boarding soon. Speak later." she said than hung up.

Giving the phone back she sat back and rubbed her temples she was getting a headache her life was drastically changing and she couldn't slow it down. But Lanoir was always a quick thinker she could handle the challenge. Opening her eyes she turned her head towards him and smiled.

"So what's next?" She asked

"We'll stay here unto I'm certain we can bring you back to your normal life." he said while sitting down next to her. He looked into her eyes and couldn't help the peaceful feeling he got every time he saw or thought of her.

"You should rest, you never know if we have to go." he said

Nodding she agreed she was tired, peeling off her shoes and socks because she hated sleeping with socks on. Getting under the blanket she closed her eyes and was fast asleep.

...

When Lanoir woke up she was once again greeted by silence, she was hoping that he would atleast be sleeping next to her. Throwing the cover off of her she walked over to the window and noticed that his car wasn't park in front. Lanoir tried not think that he would leave her, he said he wouldn't so she believed him. Going back towards the bed she laid back down and waited until he returned. Her thoughts drifted to her dogs, she was happy that she had sent them to dog camp for the month. Since she didn't have so much time to spend with them she wanted them to have the freedom to run around and be happy. Not all cooped up in her city house.

When two hours passed Lanoir became worried that something had happened to him and that he was hurt. She couldn't just lay here and do nothing. So putting on her sneakers she opened the door and headed out in hopes of finding him. Walking through the thick bushes she swept aside branches and tried to find a road but so far she wasn't having any luck.

She froze in her spot when she heard voices, crouching low in the bushes she peeked through the bushes. It was a couple one male and one female, they looked like they were arguing about something.

"Look I didn't want the damn thing anyway susan and you can't even keep the damn thing quite." the man yelled at her.

The lady just rolled her eyes, "Fuck you Tom I didn't want the damn thing either but I thought it could help us get some extra cash."

"Well it didn't so let's just leave it here, throw the damn thing in the river and be done with it," he said while yanking the door open.

What were they talking about. She thought

She looked in horror as they pulled out a little girl. She was pretty small and thin. But she was beautiful. She has bright blonde hair and dark brown eyes

Her parents were going to drown her!

" Mama whats going on ?' she questioned while looking for an answer.

"Nothing , just shut up !" the lady snapped while dragging her towards the water.

Quickly getting up Lanoir moved closer but wasn't close enough as the father shoved the girl into the river.

Lanoir pushed the couple out the way and dived into the fast moving water. Pushing her arms as fast as they would move she tried to reach the little girl. She was so close before the little girl head disappeared under the water. Diving under she tried to see her but couldn't, coming up for air she dove under again and felt something brush against her. Reaching out she was thankful that it was the little girl. Breaking to the surface she held onto the girl and tried to swim against the current but it was to fast.

She was losing energy fast but she kept a tight grip onto her frame. Seeing a log she swam closer and use her free hand to grasp onto a branch. With aching arms she pushed herself onto the log and flip onto her back holding the girl to her chest. Taking deep breaths she tried to see if anyone would come to their aid. They had been pushed far away from where they had went in at.

Not seeing any other option she placed herself back into the water and held on to the log unto her feet was able to find ground easily. Once they were officially safely out the water she sat the girl down and checked her pulse. It was faint but still there. Laying her head down and lifting her head back she started to do CPR. Counting the steps in her head, she was slowly turning blue.

After what felt like forever the girl started to cough out water.

Signing in relief she flopped onto her back and rested. They were soaking wet and she needed to find a motel soon if she didn't want the girl to get ammonia.

Standing on weak legs she picked her up and placed her on her back. She was comforted that she felt her heartbeat. Walking as fast as she could she was glad that the tree were thinning out, hopefully a road was close. Not twenty minutes later Lanoir could see the Road. quickening her step she walked on the road and came across and small motel. Now running she ran inside and was happy that the heat was on. Warming her chilled frame.

"Oh my lord , what happened to y'all." A elderly lady asked while coming around the counter in a rush.

"Her parents tried to drown her in the woods, she needs to be warmed up before she catches cold." Lanoir said while placing the girl on a plaid sofa, she ignored the uncomfortable feeling of the heavy damp clothing she wore.

"Earl! Earl Bring some Blankets and call the chief!" the lady said while turning up the heat.

"Earline what's is you out here yelling about." A heavy set man said while carrying a large blanket.

"Theses here girls are soaking wet and freezing." she said while grabbing the blanket and\wrapping it around them.

"What happened out there miss." he asked while going to grab the phone.

"I was walking through the woods when I saw her father push her in. So I jumped and a rescued her. I didn't get a good look at their car."

Lanoir zoned out while Earl they called police. Lanoir was really worried that the little girl was going to be sent back to her abusive parents. Or she would be sent to a number of foster homes. And she didn't want that. Looking down she noticed that the little girl was starting to wake up.
