I walked to my next class thinking about what the counselor lady had just told me. But one thing stuck better than the rest: How did he know that I was friends with Alex? I have never actually talked to my friends about him but I never forgot about him. There was no way Kelly could of gotten hold of that kind of information.
When I had reached my classroom, I entered and to my surprise, the only person in there was my teacher. She looked up from her desk and smiled, "Hello, Ms. Boden. You're a little early aren't you?"
"I'm sorry, am I missing something?," I said, trying to return the smile, "It was 12:37 when I left the counselor's office. Class starts at 12:40."
"I'm afraid the only thing you're missing is how to read the clock correctly," she said, "It's not even 12:35 yet. Now what were you doing at the counselor's office?"
"Oh, I just had to ask her why the new kid was in all of my classes," I said.
"But all the teachers heard that you knew him when you were younger but by a different name," she said, raising an eyebrow.
"By Alex Alard, you mean? Trust me, if he was Alex, I'd know. Now I need to have a long talk with O'Connell about stealing as identity, the next time I see him," I said.
"What makes you say that he isn't this Alex?" She asked.
"Different hair color, Different eye color, and different personality in general," I say.
"I see," she replied, "Unfortunately you'll have to deal with Mr. O'Connell for another hour because he is in this class too."
I groaned and walked to my desk, pulling out the book I was reading. It was called 'The Iron Trial' By Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. However, I had only gotten to read a few pages before someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up to see Kelly standing there with that signature smile of his.
I bolted right into the question, "Why did you tell all the staff that your name was Alex? You know that it isn't true."
"It was a name I knew you were familiar with so that I could purposely get into the same classes as you. And I'll have you know that I did have his permission."
"You don't know him!" I insisted but he gave me that look that I loathed so much. That look of knowing something that I didn't. But I didn't have time to dwell on the matter for class was starting.
