What is a Seer?

I followed Elena and Bianca to a room deeper into this place than I had ever been. We walked down hallways, upstairs, downstairs, turned left, then right, then left again, leading us still down more long hallways. How could this place be so huge? I wondered. We finally reached a set of heavy wooden double doors, a slightly darker color than the flooring and walls. Following Elena and Bianca inside, I had to question whether I was still in the same building. It was so, well, modern. Especially compared to the rest of this place which makes you feel like your inside a log cabin.

Looking, around I noticed it was bigger than any other room that I had been in. There were books, chairs, and tables everywhere. Then, there were stairs leading up into a second and third floor filled with exactly the same things., "Come on," said Bianca, "The stuff you need to read is on Level 2, in Section 5, on Bookshelf 16 on the third row from the ground."

I looked at her, flabbergasted, "How the hell did you know that so specifically?" I asked as she pulled me up the stairs and toward Section 5.

"I spend a lot of time up here. Plus, I'm the one that organized these bookshelves," She replied, shrugging her shoulders. You'd have to spend an awfully long time in here to be that specific on where certain books are. But then again, in Kindergarten her certificate did say 'Most School Spirited'. I guess they were right about her. Even after all these years, she hasn't changed at all.

I followed her into Section 5 and toward what I guessed was Bookshelf 16. Bianca dropped to her knees, becoming eye level with the third row, and pulled out several books. She gave me three, Elena two, and she had, "This may sound like a stupid question but what exactly are we looking for? I'm still kind of confused about this whole Seer thing."

"That's ok," said Bianca, "It is a very confusing matter. We are looking for anything that gives us step by step instructions on how to get you back in time and allow some others to go with you." That didn't help much, but it was probably the straightest, simplest answer I was going to get. So, I followed Bianca and Elena to a large table. We scattered it, Elena and I on the ends of one side and Bianca in the middle on the other side.

I pulled out one book from the stack and read the title: "Seer: A Beginner's Guide". Great, it had one of those lame titles. I assume the author was too lazy to come up with anything more interesting. I opened it and began reading the table of contents.

Wow. These were all questions that I had. But I couldn't read any of it just now. I had to find a way to get my mom back and help the restless spirits go to the other side. From the left of me, I heard a chirp, "I found it! Oh wait, never mind. This is how a Seer can go into the Future, not going back in time. False Alarm."

I wondered how long this would take. It couldn't be much longer now, could it? Bianca's gone through three of her books, Elena is done, and I have one more. That's when Bianca forced a book in front of my face, "Here. It says that we need some ingredients such as some spices and plants. Then, we need to have a picture form that time period and say this spell."

I raised my eyebrow, "What's with herbs?" I asked looking at the list. We needed stuff like Basil and Thyme.

"I think it's because in order for the spell to work, we need to tap into nature so that we don't drain your magic," Bianca shrugged, "Let's go. The longer we wait around, the longer he has to kill your mother. And once she's dead, she's gone and we won't be able to bring her back."
