How do I Start?

I awoke, quite abruptly, by a large splash of freezing cold water. Gasping, I tried to force myself up. That's when I noticed everyone staring at me. "What happened?" I asked trying to figure out why they tried to wake me up. Even though I had just been splashed with cold water, I was already sweating up a storm.

"You were screaming your head off," Alex replied, looking as if he had just had the scare of his life. He was panting and holding a bucket which meant that he must have been the one who splashed me with the ice water. He had stepped back into the crowd around me, "What did you see?"

That's when I remembered the something on that man's hand, "I think I know what you were talking about, Kelly, when you asked me whether there was anything on that guy's hand," I breathed and then paused, waiting for Kelly's nod, which turned out to be a look of horror, before I continued, "It was a metal disk and it was embedded in the center of his hand. It was beginning to glow, when I awoke," I breathed.

"To glow? Izzy, are you sure?" Kelly was looking at me, the horror in his eyes growing. He wasn't telling me something. Whatever it was, it wasn't good which meant that my mom could be in a lot of danger. The problem was that Kelly has been keeping too many secrets from me, every time I ask him about something he always blows it off with a 'This isn't the time, I'll tell you later' or 'It doesn't matter right now'. So what made me think that this time would be any different?

"Yes, why? Kelly, what's wrong? What happens when it glows?" Kelly refused to answer. I guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up too high.

Instead, he asked me another question, "Who's eyes were you looking through?" His eyes got a new look in them, but was it? Fear? No, that couldn't be it. I don't think he was afraid of anything. So what was it?

"My Mom. But Kelly, that didn't answer my question. What happens when it glows?" I asked. He was scaring me now. What wasn't he telling me?

"This isn't good. We have to go back, sooner, rather than later. That means you need to do some studying, Izzy. Are you prepared?" Kelly asked. Damn't he dodged it again.

"Kelly! Why won't you answer me?! What happens when it glows? What happened to my mom?" I insisted. I knew I probably wouldn't like the answer, if he told me, that is, but I needed to know. I needed to know if there was any hope that she could still be alive.

"You're not going to like it," He warned, "The glow that you saw was absorbed electricity. He drains the battery life or energy out of anything or anyone he touches. He then channels it through the piece of metal that he surgically inserted into his hand. The result is not pretty. His victims are left feeling like every part of them is searing with electricity. Take it from me, it hurts like hell."

"Oh my god. We have to go help her! He could kill her!" I said, forcing myself off the ground and into a standing position.

"Izzy, don't you understand?" Asked Alex, "The only way we can help her now is to get back to the time where someone closed off the light. And the only way we can do that is if you study how it works and take us there."

I wanted to help my mom, and this was the only way. I had to do it for her, "Ok, how do I start?"
