it happened.

someone got eliminated.

they all returned to their dorm, minho already left. all of the members were sitting together in the living room, hyunjin still sobbing as hard as ever. woojin was hugging him, telling him it'd be alright, while changbin watched chan. changbin saw hurt and guilt in his eyes along with some worry, but most of all, chan seemed tired. not tired as in he wants to sleep, he seemed tired from the situation, but before changbin could ask if he was fine, chan spoke up.

"this is some fucking bullshit. i call bullshit on that, there's no way he'd eliminate someone because of one small goddamn mistake! minho made one, not two or three, no, only one mistake! this is all just so frustrating..." he said, but it seemed like he was talking more to himself than any person in the room. "hyung can't we bring him back?" jeongin asked, from the other side of the couch. he was the calmest out of everyone, but changbin knew that he secretly would cry himself to sleep. chan shook his head in defeat. "it was jyp's decision, jeongin." he mumbled. "BUT YOURE A LEADER CHAN! DO SOMETHING! YOU DIDNT TO SHIT, YOU JUST WATCHED AS JYP SAID THOSE FUCKING WORDS!" hyunjin spit out, grabbing woojin's shirt. nobody said anything, but chan got up and walked out of the room. and maybe it was a mistake, but no one got up to follow him.

and then, changbin finally turned around to look at felix. the younger one was looking at the ground, biting his lip to hold back the tears in his eyes and changbin didn't think twice, he just pulled the boy close to his chest. "cry, felix. cry if you need to. you won't get an award if you don't." changbin softly whispered into felix ear and as soon as he heard those words coming from the person he respected and loved the most, he broke down. he buried his face in changbin's hoodie, his hands balled to fists. "i-i fucking h-hate this! w-why.." felix managed to say between sobs. it hurt changbin's heart to see him this way. his whole body was shaking, but the older one couldn't do anything except hugging the boy. no words would be a comfort, not in this situation.

changbin thought about the way minho would smile when felix pronounced something wrong. he used to be jealous, but now he understood that minho was just kind. he would always help felix with his korean. all around, minho was a good guy, too good to get kicked out before it even really started.

after a while, felix seemed to calm down a bit. he wiped his tears with his fists, before lifting his eyes to look at his hyung. no sign of crying. "are you okay, hyung?" felix asked, because changbin liked to keep things to himself. "no. i don't think anyone's okay, lix lix." he answered and felix nodded.

"did chan-hyung come back already?" felix suddenly asked and changbin opened his eyes and took out his phone to call the older member. "fuck, i completely forgot!" he said to himself as the phone rang. chan answered.

"where the hell are you!" changbin said. "studio." chan answered, voice low and cracking. "what are you doing there, all alone, chan? are you really crying by yourself like that?" changbin said, while his free hand started playing with felix hair. "shut up, seo changbin." is what he got as an answer to that. "i'm being serious though, hyung. we're here to comfort each other in times like this, but we can't help you, if you run away." changbin tried to talk as soft as possible. "whatever, don't worry, i'll definitely come back. tell hyunjin that i...i'm sorry." chan hung up and changbin stared at his phone.

"felix-ah?" changbin said to the boy who was almost asleep on his chest. all the crying must've made him tired. "hm" "wanna go into our room and sleep?" felix nodded and got up, took changbin's hand and walked to their room, half asleep already. felix fell onto his bed and was asleep, changbin quickly took his phone and left the room.

he called chan again, who answered the second time. "what" "hyung, i hope you know that none of this is your fault." changbin said. he heard a sniffle on the other side of the line, and then a low "i know, but it feels like it is." changbin shook his head. he knew it. "chan, you couldn't have changed any of this, you know that, don't you?" he continued. "but what if i would've spoken up like hyunjin said?" "hyunjin didn't even mean what he said. he's just sad and angry, but not at you. at everything and everyone. well, maybe except woojin. he'll apologize tomorrow anyway, you know he's a good kid."

they talked for a while, just so changbin could make sure chan was okay, before they hung up and changbin went back into their room. felix was still safe asleep and without even bothering to get into his own bed, he laid down next to the younger boy, just looking at him made changbin feel like he was home.

and maybe that's why he loved felix so much, because felix felt like home to changbin. and he always did.
