CHAPTER EIGHT

Luke's POV

The tour life was not as easy as I'd expected.

Yes, the boys and I had played gigs before. But never at a venue nearly as big as the one we were at. Never with a band as huge as One Direction. Never for thousands of screaming girls.

It was exhilarating.

But also quite stressful. There was a lot of "remember to do this" and "at this time do this" and a lot of "don't swear on stage" to Michael. Our free time was spent lounging around the various dressing rooms so that we wouldn't get ourselves in trouble.

"It's so fucking hot," Michael moaned. He was sprawled out on a couch, his arm thrown over his face. "I'm melting. MELTING."

"Swear Jar," Calum piped, sliding a little white mug across the coffee table between them, making the coins inside clink.

Groaning, Michael fished change out of his pocket and dropped them in. "This is fu- really hard," he said, frowning at the cup.

"You gotta learn," my mum said as she walked past him to give me my maths work. "Swearing on stage for this crowd would not be a good idea. They're young."

"Not all of them," Michael interjected with a crooked, mischievous smile. "I saw some pretty hot girls who were definitely not that young."

Ashton threw a pillow at him and sighed. "If you didn't have an X-Box to keep you quarantined, you would have screwed every girl you laid eyes on."

Michael sniffed. "Psh, not every girl."

I laughed. "What, you have an exception?"

Mikey grinned. "Actually, I do."

"Who?" I asked, playing along.

His grin widened. "Your girlfriend, Prov."

"She's not my girlfriend," I protested, and focused hard on looking down at my maths, which only strengthened my memory of her. "Besides, she's out on a date right now. Or at least, she was."

Michael faked a shocked look. "She's cheating? My god, Luke, dump her! Break up with her cheating ass!"

"Swear Jar," Calum said, and Michael got up and threw the Swear Jar onto the floor with a loud, "FUCK THIS DAMN PIECE OF SHIT. THIS BITCH CANT CONTROL MY ASS."

"That'd be at least fifteen dollars if he hadn't broken the mug," Ashton murmured, and I stifled a laugh.

Calum was too busy laughing to help my mum and another man clean up the mess. "You... failed... so... bad," Calum managed to get out between chuckles as he collapsed onto the couch Michael had claimed.

Michael fell back onto the couch, his fake glower ruined by his satisfied expression. "Stupid piece of shit," he commented.

"So Providence is on a date?" Ashton asked casually, and I tensed slightly.

"Yeah. She looked good," I said, low enough that Calum and Mikey wouldn't hear. If they did... I'd never hear the end of it.

Ashton's eyebrows flicked up. "You saw?"

"Her friend sent me pictures," I said, pulling them up and showing them to Ashton. "See?"

"Damn," Ashton breathed. He looked up at me. "Not going to lie, I know she's your best friend and all, but Providence is really hot."
