                              "So brave of them!"
                              "PARLIAMENT, LET THEM LIVE!"
                              "We have space dads!"
                              "Is PJ a Gem, too?"
"HOLY SHIT DIL IS REAL!!1! KJGJHGJHGJHG"
                              "Our soft, precious space sons!"
"This explains so much. So. Much."
                              "We're so proud of you!"
To say the reception to their big news was good was an understatement. There was a massive amount of positivity sent their way, and they couldn't have been happier with it. The government never bothered them about it, so that was definitely a relief.
Almost an hour after their video went live, however, they got a phone call. Dan looked at his phone, his brows furrowed. "Uh, I thought we were collaborating with Seán next month?" he said to Phil, befuddled.
"Maybe we got the dates mixed up?"
"No, I don't think so." Dan slid the call to answer and put it on speaker phone. "Hello? Is everything alright?"
Seán's voice came over the phone with a sense of urgency. "I need to come over, now."
"Oh, uh, okay, I guess. Is something the matter?" Dan prodded again. The call ended and the Gems were left more than concerned.
"I hope everything is alright," Phil added.
                                               Knock knock knock!
The Gems' heads spun in the front door's direction. A bit frazzled now, they approached and opened the door together. There stood Seán McCloughlin, green hair and all, a stressful look painted on his face. "Can I come in?" he asked shakily.
Dan cocked his hip and pointed a finger. "How did you get here so quickly?"
Seán's eyes darted down the hallway and back. "That's why I'm here." With that mysterious answer, the Gems let him in. "This is crazy," he whispered as he rounded the corner to the lounge.
"What's crazy? Seán, you're freaking us out," Dan stressed.
Phil nodded. "This isn't like you. What's the matter?"
Seán faced away from this, his head hung. He took a deep breath and lifted his head. "You knew my mother."
"Uh... Who was your mum?" Phil asked.
Seán turned to them then, his expression sullen. "Aura Quartz, leader of the Crystal Gems." His gaze cut through the Gems much like Dan's sword. They both tensed and looked at each other. "You, an obsidian and a black opal, were one of her most trusted soldiers: Star Garnet. From what I've heard, you betrayed her and every Crystal Gem." Seán turned fully, his balled fists escaping his pockets and holding tight at his sides. "Why?"
Only partially recovered from the shock, Dan went first: "First off, you don't know the whole story. We never betrayed Aura."
"And how on Earth was she your mum?" Phil interjected.
Seán curtly explained the process Aura took to have a child with his father. They fell in love and she shapeshifted a womb to have a child, and she became part of him when he was born, thus ceasing to exist as herself. During this explanation, Seán unzipped his hoodie and lifted his shirt to reveal the very same green gemstone with a blue, circular center, located in his abdomen. "So, what's the 'whole story'?" he solicited, the tension holding in his brow.
