The Autumn Festival pageant had thrust Lana into the campus spotlight, a place she had never wanted to be. Despite her best efforts to fade into the background, her accidental rise to fame seemed to have a mind of its own.
One of the most unexpected consequences of her newfound popularity came in the form of Theo Montgomery, an eccentric senior majoring in fine arts. Theo was known for his dramatic personality and over-the-top projects that often blurred the line between genius and absurdity. To Lana's misfortune, he had decided that she was the perfect muse for his latest artistic obsession.
Theo's Proposal
It started innocently enough. Lana was sitting under a tree near the quad, sketching a rough draft for her architecture assignment, when Theo appeared. He was tall and wiry, with unruly curls and a scarf that seemed unnecessarily large for the mild weather.
"You," Theo said, pointing at her with the fervor of someone who had just discovered fire.
Lana looked up, startled. "Uh... me?"
"Yes, you!" Theo exclaimed, dropping his satchel of art supplies on the ground with a theatrical flourish. "You are the vision I've been searching for! The embodiment of grace, strength, and vulnerability! You must let me paint you."
Lana blinked, unsure whether to laugh or run. "I think you've got the wrong person."
"No, no, no," Theo said, shaking his head vehemently. "It's you. You have that... that je ne sais quoi! That spark that speaks to the soul! Please, say yes."
Lana glanced around, hoping for an escape, but Theo's earnest expression made it hard to refuse outright. "Um... sure, I guess? But I'm really busy with schoolwork—"
"Perfect!" Theo interrupted, completely ignoring her hesitation. "We'll start immediately. Meet me at the studio tomorrow. And don't be late!"
Before Lana could protest, Theo grabbed his satchel and marched off, leaving her bewildered.
The First Painting Session
The next day, Lana reluctantly showed up at the art studio, hoping to get the ordeal over with. Theo was already there, setting up an elaborate arrangement of canvases, brushes, and paints.
"Ah, my muse has arrived!" Theo declared, clapping his hands. "Take a seat, relax, and let your natural aura shine through."
Lana awkwardly sat on a stool, feeling completely out of place. Theo began sketching furiously, muttering things like "the lines of destiny" and "the light of resilience" under his breath.
Hours passed, and Theo barely let her move. By the end of the session, Lana's back ached, and her patience was wearing thin. When she finally saw the painting, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
The portrait was... abstract, to say the least. Theo had painted her with exaggerated features—a towering figure with glowing, golden skin, holding a sword in one hand and a bouquet of roses in the other. It looked like something out of a surreal medieval fantasy.
"So, what do you think?" Theo asked, beaming with pride.
"It's... definitely something," Lana said diplomatically.
The Embarrassment Begins
What Lana didn't expect was for Theo to start showcasing her portraits around campus. By the end of the week, posters of "Lana the Warrior Muse" were plastered everywhere, drawing even more attention to her.
"Did you see this?" Shannon asked, holding up a flyer of one of Theo's paintings as she joined Lana at their usual lunch spot.
"I wish I hadn't," Lana groaned, covering her face.
