As the weeks passed, Lana's accidental rise to fame at Weston University seemed to show no signs of slowing down. It started innocently enough—with her beauty pageant win and the accidental invitation to Ryan's party—but soon, she found herself at the center of campus attention.

Some students admired her for her down-to-earth attitude, fascinated by her humble background and no-nonsense approach. They respected her determination to succeed despite the assumptions about her being a "pretty face" on scholarship. Lana became a symbol of the underdog, the girl who wasn't supposed to be there but was fighting tooth and nail to prove she belonged.

But not everyone shared this admiration. Ryan's circle of wealthy friends, many of whom had grown up surrounded by luxury and entitlement, viewed Lana as a threat to their status. To them, she was nothing more than a "gold-digger," trying to use her looks to climb the social ladder. They made no secret of their disdain for her, but the most vocal among them was Cassey.

Cassey, ever the queen bee, wasted no time in turning the campus against Lana. From whispers in the hallways to not-so-subtle remarks in class, Cassey always seemed to find a way to make Lana the center of attention—always in the worst way possible.

The First Sabotage

It began innocently enough. Lana was walking through campus one afternoon, heading toward the library, when she noticed a group of students gathered around a bulletin board. The whispers stopped as soon as she approached, but one student—Charlotte, a girl who had been friendly to Lana in the past—gave her an awkward smile before quickly turning away.

Confused, Lana approached the bulletin board and saw that the latest edition of the campus newsletter was pinned up. Her name was mentioned, but not in a way that she was used to seeing it. There, in bold print, was the headline:

"Scholarship Girl's Work—Too Good to Be Her Own?"

Lana's stomach dropped. The article went on to suggest that she was "too perfect" to have written her latest paper on urban design, insinuating that someone else—perhaps Ryan, or one of his friends—had written it for her.

Her hands shook as she read the words, and she could feel the eyes of everyone around her. She turned to leave, her heart pounding in her chest, but just as she did, she caught sight of Cassey standing by the corner, talking to a group of students. Cassey locked eyes with her and gave her a smug smile before turning back to her conversation.

"Let them talk," Shannon's voice appeared beside her, and Lana turned to see her best friend walking up with a determined look.

"Did you see that?" Lana asked, her voice tight.

"Of course I did," Shannon said, her jaw clenched. "Cassey's been planting rumors about you for weeks now. This is just the latest in her little scheme to make you look bad."

Lana's frustration mounted. "Why? What does she care? I'm not competing with her."

"You're not, but she sees you as competition," Shannon said, her voice low. "You're everything she's not—humble, grounded, and real. And that's the threat. She's a walking stereotype of privilege, and the last thing she wants is someone who actually deserves their spot in the world."

Lana felt the weight of the words, but she also felt the sting of the article. "I worked so hard on that paper. I can't believe she's doing this."

Shannon's eyes narrowed. "She won't get away with it. You'll see. I'll help you fight back."

The Bizarre Class Incident

Things only got worse from there. Lana had noticed that her classmates were increasingly cold toward her. Whenever she walked into a room, there was a subtle shift—whispers, side glances, and the occasional raised eyebrow. It was like walking into a room full of strangers, all of whom suddenly seemed to know something she didn't.
