Lana had always found it a bit odd how things worked out at Weston University. It seemed like every day was an unpredictable blend of strange encounters and awkward situations. But today was different. She couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that this semester was going to throw even more curveballs her way. She had always been good at handling challenges, but some things felt beyond her control.

That morning, she had sat in her first class of the semester—a demanding business ethics course—mentally preparing herself for the pile of assignments that would inevitably come. As the class filed in, she glanced around and noticed, to her surprise, that both Ryan and Cassey were sitting in the same section. She'd been hoping for a quiet start to the semester, but there they were, with their perfectly styled hair and designer clothes, ready to conquer the class in the way only people like them could.

Her stomach tightened as she found her seat, trying to ignore the fact that the rumors surrounding her and Ryan were still a low hum at the back of her mind. It wasn't as if she wanted to think about it, but when people stared at you and whispered behind your back, it became hard to avoid.

"Hey, Lana!" Shannon waved from the seat beside her, her usual bright smile lighting up the room. "You're not going to believe this. Guess who's in the same class as us?"

Lana's heart sank. "Don't tell me..."

"Yep," Shannon said, rolling her eyes dramatically. "Ryan and Miss 'I'm Too Good For You' Cassey." She made air quotes with her fingers.

Lana gave her friend a small smile, though she wasn't sure how to feel about the situation. She had been trying to stay focused on her studies, avoiding the drama as much as possible, but it seemed like the universe was determined to drag her into it.

As the professor entered the room and began talking about the group project that would make up a significant portion of their grade, Lana braced herself for the inevitable. It was a big assignment, and her focus on excellence made her determined to do well. She wasn't going to let anything stop her from succeeding.

When the professor called out the names of the students assigned to each group, Lana's heart skipped a beat. Ryan Ashford. Cassey. And... her.

"Looks like we're all in the same group," Ryan said, glancing over at Lana with a smile that felt less warm than usual. It was polite, but there was an edge to it that made Lana uncomfortable. She swallowed hard, trying not to let the anxiety show on her face.

"Guess we'll have to work together," Lana said, keeping her tone as neutral as possible.

The rest of the group was filled with a mix of students, mostly from wealthy families who seemed to look at the project as more of a social exercise than an academic challenge. As the meeting time came to a close, they all agreed to meet at Ryan's mansion for a brainstorming session. Lana had to admit, the lavish setting was intimidating, but she was determined to prove herself in this group of privileged students.

Scene: Shannon Bickers with Cassey

Later that afternoon, Lana found herself sitting at the coffee shop on campus, scrolling through her phone while waiting for Shannon. As usual, she was trying to unwind after a long day of lectures. She wasn't expecting much excitement until Shannon burst through the door, looking fired up.

"Lana, you will not believe what just happened!" Shannon's voice was a mix of frustration and amusement as she slumped into the chair opposite Lana. "Cassey... that girl has no shame."

Lana raised an eyebrow. "What now?"

"Oh, you know, just the usual," Shannon said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "She had the nerve to say I'm 'clinging onto Cameron for status.' As if I need him to make myself relevant!"
