"Are you coming home for Christmas?"

"No, i've got plans with Katie,"

"Don't get attached to her, she'll never be yours,"

"Too late,"

I sat dumbfounded beside the one person I loved the most. I'd follow him across the globe if it meant being able to see his smile. Of course i'd go with him, but something was keeping me from saying yes; and she was standing in the doorway.

"If it means being with you, i'll go anywhere," I answered him with a weak smile.

He grinned and pressed a soft kiss on my nose. Dan had been my best friend for as long as I could remember, it was still hard to believe that he was mine now. Or that he was even still by my side even after everything that had happened.

"You deserve so much better, Dan. Don't do this," his sister begged as she stormed over to us.

I looked over at Dan, who was taking a moment to recompose himself. It almost seemed as if his sisters presence caused more harm than good.

I shifted my eyes over to her, eyeing her up carefully. She was lean and quite tall, but not as tall as Dan was.

Her dyed red hair was neatly pulled back into a tight ponytail, that hung down to about her shoulders. Her hard brown eyes burned into Dan as she waited for him to reply.

It was obvious she hated me, though I had no idea why.

"I'm going home," Dan sighed and pried himself from his bed.

"Well I see you've improved, haven't you?" A sarcastic voice echoed throughout the the room.

I looked up to see the doctor from before standing in the hallway. He didn't look too impressed with us, but I didn't blame him.

"Yes I'm fine," Dan huffed.

The doctor shot him a sideways look, "Well, why are you standing around here then? Go home."

Dan looked proud of himself as the doctor exited the room, his sister however looked kinda annoyed.

I was just happy we got to go home, where I could sleep in a real bed, with a real boyfriend, where I was meant to be.

Dan and I had been through so much over the past few years, and I think it was safe to say that it was all over now.

It was just Dan, myself, and the stars.

Pure and safe.

Just like the world had intended.

For now.
