"Got anything planned for today?" I asked Dan, looking up at him through my blue eyes.
"Nope. Just you and me until I go to work later," He said with an apologetic smile.
I sighed. Dan had changed his work schedule around so he could spend his days with me.
Unfortunately that meant being alone in Dan's apartment. I knew that it would be hard for me to sleep without his protective arms around me
Especially with the chance of Lance stopping by."What time will you be back?" I asked.
He bit his lip gently in thought before he replied, "I start at 10, so ill be back around 4:30 in the morning."
I nodded and leaned back on his chest as we sat on the couch. I was grateful for his company, even if it was just for the day.
"I'll miss you," I almost whispered.
A small smile spread across his face. He kissed my forehead and pulled me closer.
"I'll miss you too. But I'll be back before you know it. You'll be safe here, and if you need anything you can call me. Okay?" He explained with a hopeful smile.
"Okay," I nodded, bringing silence to the room.
I thought about Lance and how I could get rid of him. It wasn't going to be easy, that was for sure.
He knew how to wrap me around his finger so well, using Dan against me in a way I really didn't like.
"I got you something," Dan said with a smile before getting up.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as he returned with a small box in his hands. He sat beside me and extended his arm; waiting for me to take the box.
"What is it?" I asked.
He chuckled as I took the box, "Open it and find out."
I looked at the small box wrapped in pink paper. I had no idea what it could be, but i opened it. Inside a little note sat on some pink tissue paper. It read, 'You don't have to lose the war against yourself forever.'
"What does this mean Dan?" I asked, confused.
"It means that somebody out there is willing to go out on a ledge for you. Somebody is going to love you the right way. The way you should be treated. Through thick and thin. I know you're beating yourself up about this. But you don't have to do it alone," Dan explained with a frown.
His brown eyes found their home in mine. And for a moment, I didn't feel alone.
I felt my eyes start to water. Quickly i ran my hand along my face, removing them almost instantly. I closed my eyes tight.
"Do you want to move here?" He asked softly, a smile playing on his lips.
Dan was to pure for me, he was to perfect and always has been. Why did he choose me out of all of the beautiful people out there?
"Of course," I replied with a wide smile.
Suddenly I felt his warm hand cup my cheek and I remained still as I felt him grow closer.
"I love you. I always have and I always will," He whispered almost delicately.
I felt myself melt into his touch. My eyes fluttered open only to see his milk chocolate eyes staring back into mine. Warmth filled my body in that moment, like it never had before.
"I love you too Daniel," I gushed.
He smiled and leaned in slowly, pausing just before our lips touched, "Can I kiss you?"
I nodded and closed my eyes just as he connected his lips with mine. It was a slow kiss, but those we're my favorite.
I leaned into our kiss slightly, putting my hands on his chest for support.
We broke out kiss a few moments after. I looked up at him, his brown curls falling lightly over his forehead.
"You are so beautiful," He whispered and ran his thumb along my cheek.
I felt myself blush. "T-Thank you." I replied and bravely pressed my lips back into his. Where they stayed for a long time.
It felt as if all my problems had blown away somehow. Like the only thing that mattered in that moment was my fingers tangling through his curls.
Suddenly Dan pulled away, not saying a word as he moved an arm under my legs, another around my waist. I giggled as he scooped me up and walked to the bedroom where he gently placed me down on the bed.
I hummed happily as my soft shaven legs ran along his soft duvet. Crawling into soft blankets with shaved legs was always so comforting. It was almost as if I were in heaven.
He crawled into the bed beside me with a smile. I smiled back as he gently pressed his lips to mine once more.
"Is this okay?" he asked softly in between kisses as he pulled me down onto his chest.
I nodded as I caught my breath. He smiled and kissed my forehead before we continued, "Tell me if you ever feel uncomfortable."
I nodded and couldn't help but smile and kiss him again. After a while of on and off kissing, I felt Dan tug at my shirt.
I nodded nervously as I felt his soft hands on my stomach. He placed a small kiss on my temple while he traced a circle on my stomach before pulling my shirt part way up.
"Is this what you want?" he asked as he paused.
I bit my lip and thought about it for a moment. Was it what I wanted? Did I want to potentially ruin our friendship over something I was trying to escape in the first place?
But I trusted Dan with every fibre of my being. I knew that he would stop if I suddenly changed my mind. And if I wanted to stop and cry, he would be be okay with that.
"I-I think so. As long as you're careful," I stumbled over my words.
Dan leaned down, kissing my forehead before looking back into my eyes, "If this is what you want, I'll go as slow as you'd like. As long as you're certain. I- I dont want to hurt you."
I shifted in my spot, laying beside him on the bed and wrapping an arm around him, "I trust you."
Dan nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat, "Katie?"
"Yes?" I replied, almost in a whisper.
"I love you," He breathed softly, his voice steady now.
I buried my face his shoulder, "I love you too Howell. Erm- Can I ask you something?"
He nodded and waited patiently for my question, twisting little bits of my hair in between his fingers. I sat up slowly and turned to him as I picked at the skin on my fingers.
"Have you ever- done this before?" I asked, a little to embarrassed to say the word sex.
Even though I have had sex way more than once, Lance was always drunk and I was always on the receiving end. So I was no expect.
"No I was waiting for the right person," he frowned and bit the inside of his cheek, avoiding eye contact.
"Am I the right person?" I asked, feeling a bit guilty for putting him on the spot.
I drew circles on Dan's shoulder slowly as I waited for him to reply.
A few moments later he nodded confidently and fixed my golden hair behind my ear.
"You've always been the right person," he blushed, a smile now on his face.
I covered my smiling face with my hands. How Dan and I hadn't gotten together sooner was beyond me.
