I walked with Matt as he put his hand on my shoulder. I shivered.

He still liked me.

He told me the day after we ate at In-n-Out. I didn't reply to the text. I cleared my throat.

"Is this a pool party or something?" I asked. Matt looked down at me. "No, but some people decided to be rude and just jump into the pool." I heard laughter and water splashing. I nodded. "Okay, cool."

We stepped inside the house and I sat on the couch. Matt got us some drinks.

"Hey, I miss you. 😔💔" I frowned. It was Cameron. "Don't be sad, I'm coming to see you tomorrow night. Why did you have to buy a damn house down there😓 so complicated, Cam.😂😭❤️" "Hahaha, very funny. But I wish I could just sell this house again. I might have to actually, I can't spend my life here forever." I smile at the comment. "You're stupid for moving there😂😂😂😂👋 move in with me. I'm actually moving out of my mom's house soon. ☺️" "I might as well do that 😘 love you, gtg. Have to get something for Sierra's bday😚"

I grin. Sierra was his older sister. I click off my phone and Matt comes back with drinks. "Thanks," I say. Matt looks down at my purse. "Who were you texting?" He asks, curiously. I look up at him.

"Oh, it was Cameron. Why?" I see a slight frown appear. "Just wondering. Are you two together again?" I bite the inner part of my cheek. "Yeah."

His eyes widen a little and sits next to me. "Sorry, I didn't know. I thought--"

"It's fine, Matt."

I sigh and look around. This was boring. I didn't want to spend the rest of my time here, watching people be drunk and dancing like strippers, grinding and twerking on each other. I look back at Matt. "Even though I just got here, I'd like to go home, please." He nods. He takes me back home. Before I open my front door I stop and turn around.

"Matt,"

He turns his head. "Yeah?"

I walk to him and hug him. He seems shocked for a moment, but a minute later I feel his arms around me.

"Thanks for being a good friend. I appreciate you trying to take me out tonight." I say.

I kiss his cheek and walk into my house. I walk upstairs to my room and spot Matt standing there still. I see a wide smile on his face and finally walks back to his car and leaves. I laugh to myself.

I was stupid.
