D is for Dreams

It’s 2028. No, there aren’t flying cars yet, so don’t get your hopes up. Everything is relatively the same, disappointing right? Anyway, I’m now 28 years old. I live in London with my husband, who I just recently married in June. He works at a restaurant where he is a chef. I work at a school, teaching Music and Language Arts. We live in a normal sized house on the outskirts of the city, not so far away that it takes a long time to get in the city, but we’re far enough away from all the business and the noise. We have a big backyard, which is great for our dog, Bailey. My husband has to work almost everyday, aside from holidays and snow days. I only have to work on weekdays, occasionally going in to a teacher workshop. Today we both took the day off to go sightseeing with some friends in London. We’re planning on meeting up by Big Ben, then we’ll split up, and the guys will walk around the city while the girls go shopping. Later we’ll meet up at a restaurant and have lunch, then we’ll go home.

Our house is normal sized, but it’s not very spacious. There are three bedrooms, each of them a different color. Then we have our living room, which is about the same size as the kitchen. Our backyard is pretty big and lined with trees. We have an attic and a basement, which we are using for storage. We have flowers out front and a long walkway leading up to our front door.

I wake up and realize that I’m late. I rush to get ready and meet my friends at Big Ben. We all go shopping and have fun, then we meet up for lunch. We all eat our food, then drag out our goodbyes in the parking lot. then we get in our cars and go home. When we get home, my husband and I decide to watch a movie. We put in Frozen, yes we still watch disney movies, and make popcorn before sitting in the living room and watching. When the movie is over, we start cooking dinner. While I’m preparing the food, my husband plays with the dog. We eventually sit down to eat, then turn on the news when we’re done. When it gets late, we go to our room and try to fall asleep.

But I can't fall asleep for some reason. Eventually I give up trying and start thinking. I think about everything leading up to this moment. I remember elementary school, when boys had "cooties". I remember middle school, when I had the best teachers ever and spent a ton of time with friends. I remember high school, when there was drama left and right. And then I think about today. About everything I did. Who I was with. What we did. I realized that my group of friends hasn't  changed since middle school. I realized that my interests are different than high school. I realized how different my life is now. And I'm entirely happy with it.

Life Lesson: Shoot to reach your dream. It's your life, live it.
