J is for Jenna

There’s a website called Wattpad, where you can read or write stories and it’s entirely free. You can also talk to other writers, which is how I met Jenna. I was going through different profiles, just looking for something interesting because I was bored. I see a profile that had flip-flops for their picture and had the name iwillalwaysbelieve. I figured they would be kind of interesting, so I clicked the profile and saw their bio. She said that she liked a lot of the same shows and music that I liked, as well as youtubers. Since we had so much in common, I decided to message her. I mentioned that we liked a lot of the same stuff, and she replied within a day and we kept going back and forth like that. Eventually we trusted each other enough to tell more about ourselves. I said that my name is Mary, I live in New Hampshire, I have the ends of my hair dyed, I have two siblings, and named a couple of my friends. She did the same, saying that she lives in Texas and her name is Jenna, she has one sister, and she also named a couple of her friends. Months have gone by since I sent that first message, and we still talk daily. We talk about what happened that day, who did what, bla bla bla. She tells me about the guy she likes, I tell her something stupid one of my friends did, and we just keep going back and forth. It’s like having my best friend there with me in person, gossiping about different people from our two different schools. We cheer each other up after a really hard day, we help each other with writing assignments for different classes, we send each other links to things we think are cool or funny, basically showing each other stuff like two best friends would in real life. Sometimes we compare the differences between our schools, like dress codes and extracurricular activities, and the way people act. Jokes and trends that are going around the school, stuff like that. We also compare what our communities look like, as far as buildings and popular businesses go. I told her about Jordan’s and Funspot, plus the Steeplegate Mall in Concord and Monkey Trunks. She told me about a bunch of different places she can go to after school, like their park and convenience store. I think it’s really cool that I have the chance to talk to someone so far away from me, and be able to bond and be friends with them. It’s not everyday that someone can make a new friend, especially when that person is so far away. I’m grateful that I get the chance to talk to her everyday, and that I always have someone to talk to. I’m glad I sent that first message, because without it I wouldn’t have Jenna.

Life Lesson: Don’t be afraid to say something first, you might make a new friend out of it.
