H is for Holidays
The week or so before a holiday is always exciting, with the lights and decorations. Everyone seems a little more happy and joyful during this time as they await the day they get to celebrate. Some people act differently around different holidays. Some people love Easter and hate St. Patrick's Day. I don't understand that. I love all holidays.
My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas. All the lights and the food and the family time and the food... Did I mention the food? Everything about the season seems happy. The people always seem to have smiles, the children are jumpy and eager, everything seems to have a happy hue to it. The beautiful lights outside of the houses and stores. The stores with fake Santas and snowmen outside. Children begging their parents for specific toys. Even those whiny kids can't dull my mood.
My second favorite holiday is Easter. Even though I don't show it, I love dressing up. Pretty dresses, fancy jeweler, anything dressy makes me happy. (I feel like a princess, but don't tell anyone. *pushes fingers to lips*) Aside from that, CANDY! I'm also really competitive, so Easter egg hunts are really fun. I may or may not have put my sister in a snow bank once because I wanted to win. Anyway, my point is, Easter is fun to me.
Last, my third favorite holiday is New Years. My family has a tradition of going to a friend's house at night and staying up late. We always have pizza and sit in their living room, just telling stories and laughing. We basically do that until the ball drop, then we say our goodbyes, which usually last over an hour. I also love fireworks. I don't know it it's the bright lights or the enchanted looks on children's faces, but it's amazing to me.
Life Lesson: Notice people's moods during holidays, they're usually different and pretty interesting.
