*this is if grantaire has survived but enjolras didn't*
grantaire's eyes fluttered open and briefly he only saw white. he looked down and saw a small amount of blood on his shirt, not concerning him very much. then he looked up and what he saw caused his eyes to widen.
what he saw was his apollo, his light, his hero, his leader, his love, his enjolras hanging out of the window of the cafe where he used to sing about a better tomorrow with his friends.
grantaire quickly stood up and pulled enjolras' body into the building. enjolras still clutched a crimson flag in his hand. a sign of rebellion. his blue eyes were still open and his skin was still marble.
but there was something different about him. the fire in his eyes were gone, they were now glazed over. his breath had stopped. grantaire looked out the window to see the rest of his friends dead as well. their bodies had been lined up beside the barricade with the eyes closed.
"no no no no," grantaire cried out with tears pricking his eyes, "enjolras no. no, please wake up. please, i can't do this. not without you. you were what gave me hope."
by now, grantaire was sobbing, his tears falling onto his pale and lifeless companion's skin. he was hoping so much that he would not be alone in this and that enjolras would come back from the dead. his heart ached as he cradled his enjolras in his arms. he felt that some of apollo was still warm, being alive just moments before. with a shaky breath, grantaire started softly singing.
"you are my sunshine," he sang out quietly as he lifted an arm to wipe away tears with his sleeve, "my only sunshine."
he looked up at the sky through the window where dark clouds were forming, showing signs of rain fall soon.
"you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know dear how much i love you," he looked down at the blonde mess in his arms.
"so please don't take my sunshine away."
