Chapter 23

Tobias's POV

I drive Tris to the hospital. She just sits quietly. I look out the window and see my dad. I turn quickly making Tris panick.

"What the heck!"

"I saw my dad. I-I can't be around him. He used to beat me. That is why I moved here."

"Oh..."

"I just... I couldn't drive near him. We gotta go anyways."

"Yeah..."

We drive the rest if the way in silence.

When we finally get there we see Uriah, Zeke, and Christina. Tris waves and they look over.

Great... They notice that I am upset. Christina doesn't notice, because she is running around. Zeke comes over and tells the others to go on.

"What happened?"

"I saw my dad on the way here. I turned so he wouldn't see me. I had to tell Tris what happened. So I told her about my dad and how he beat me. That is why I am upset." I snap at him and turn away.

Uriah goes over to Zeke and I kniw what he is saying. Uriah always tells Zeke to give me space and let me cool off.

I walk over to the check in counter. I ask for Tris and she says room 6104. I walk through the hallway and find her room.

When I walk in I see her hunched over in pain.

"Are you ok? What's wrong!?" I am really worried.

"My ankle! I-I think it is broken. I accidentally put pressure on it!"

I run over to her and help her on the bed with the annoying crinkly paper.

"Just breathe. The doctor is on his way." I say. I don't know if he is or not...

Just then the doctor, Zeke, Uriah, and Christina run in. The doctor takes Tris to x-rays.

We all just sit in silence. Uriah breaks the silence.

"I am sorry about Tris... and your dad."

I look down and then at Zeke.

"Zeke, I am sorry for exploding on you earlier."

He lets out a nervous laugh and so do I.
