Quickly I ran back into the cottage and locked the door behind me. I stood there peering through the small glass window which was by the side of the door, birds we beginning to fly out of the canopy of the trees. My breathing deepened as the threat got closer and my hands balled into fists as adrenaline began to be pumped around my body. As I stood there I closed my eyes, breathing slowly as I summoned all the energy and power I had buried inside of me. When I opened my eyes the cottage lay in complete darkness, the only light coming from my orange burning eyes which reflected in the glass of the window.
All at once my hearing and sight heightened allowing me to detect any incoming danger. Silence rang in the air as I listened intently for any sign of movement. Suddenly the sound of whimpers began to grow louder and out of the gloomy woods a mass of people dressed in black cloaks began to walk towards the fence which surrounded the cottage. I looked closely and soon a person in a red coat became visible. It was my Aunt.
Quickly I unlocked the door of the cottage and walked a few metres out onto the path.
"We know you're there Miss Ravenwood. And trust me, it won't take us long to break this pathetic force field your supposed Aunt has placed around your little hiding hole. So I suggest you come out and save us a lot of trouble." The cloaked black figure hissed as it held my Aunt by the scruff of her coat.
"Don't do it Rose..." I heard my Aunt whisper through her sobs. Instantly the dark figure hit her around the face causing her body to crash to the ground. My heart ached as I watched her crawl back up to her feet only to be struck down again. In a wave of anger I quickly raised my hand to the sky.
"I'm sorry Aunt... I won't let them do this to you." I whispered before a stream of wispy gold light shot from my finger tips up into the sky where it hit the force field causing it to shatter and fall to the ground like fragments of blue glass. Slowly all the cloaked figures began to cheer menacingly as they grabbed their wands and began to set the cottage alight. Instantly my Aunt scrambled to her feet and began to run forward towards the cottage which was now engulfed in smouldering flames.
"NO! NOOOOOO!" She screamed as the windows began to smash.
The cloaked figures now stood only a few metres away from us and instantly my Aunt pushed me behind her. But instead of pulling out her wand she fell down onto her knees and began to beg to what seemed to be the leader of the cloaked figures.
"Please I'm beginning you... I never wanted to do this..." She said weepingly as she look back up at the tall figure. Every dark figure was wearing a silver mask, which had dark swirls of black that outlined their facial features. The main figure brought it's hand up to it's mask and suddenly the mask disappeared into smoke revealing the figures face as it pushed back its hood. There in front of my very eyes was Lucius Malfoy and now visible behind him was Bellatrix Lestrange. I froze on the spot as a cruel, wicked grin too similar to Draco's began to grow on his lips. Bellatrix had a similar expression and was giggling unnervingly.
"Well well, it only seems like yesterday we did this to your families home..." Bellatrix sneered as she grinned, flashing her rotten teeth as she snarled at us. Instantly my Aunt began to beg again, this time there was another meaning to it. It was something deeper.
"I was wondering how long it would be until you began to beg for your life again, don't you remember where that got you last time?" Lucius growled as he pressed his foot down on my Aunts left hand.
"I'm afraid Miss Ravenwood your Aunt isn't who she says she is." He said as he lifted her from the floor by her arm. My Aunt was sobbing heavily.
"I'm sorry Rose... I'm so sorry... I had no choice..." She cried as Lucius pulled up her sleeve to reveal the dark mark embedded in the skin of her forearm. It's black skull lifeless as a snake weaved its way through its features. I gasped as I stepped backwards away from from the crowd of death eaters.
"Rose... Go, don't make the same mistake I did! Go!" My Aunt screamed desperately as two death eaters teleported next to me and grabbed my arms.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" I screamed as I struggled against their hard grips while Bellatrix Lestrange began to use the Cruciatus Curse on my Aunt, making her cripple and scream in agony.
"Isn't it obvious... WE WANT YOU!" Lucius hissed as he turned around quickly walking over to my Aunt. He picked her head up by her hair causing her to whimper as he placed his wand at the side of her head. My aunt looked up at me her eyes full of tears.
"I'm so sorry. Run Rose, run-"
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" Lucius chanted as a bolt of green light shot from his wand and hit my Aunt causing her body to lie as a lifeless heap on the floor.
"NOOOOOOOO!" I screamed and in that scream, all my rage and power was unleashed. The two death eaters which had pinned me to the spot were thrown into the air as I now stood there with my eyes blazing golden orange. My breathing was heavy and agitated as I felt the power flowing through my veins. A look of horror flashed across Lucius' face as I fought off two other death eaters without even touching them, immediately bolted for the woods.
My feet pounded the floor so quickly I felt as though my feet weren't making contact with the ground. Every now and then I would glance back only to see the white hair of Lucius chasing me as I ran for my life. The next few seconds happened in slow motion as the woods began to clear to show the edge of a cliff. I reached the edge, scattering rocks over into the sea below. The cliff was so high that if I jumped off into the water it would feel like hitting a rock and I would die instantly. I stared down at the water which crashed furiously against the rock of the cliff. Suddenly Lucius fired a spell at me which carved its way into my flesh, sending me stumbling backwards off the cliff as pain surged through my body. My body twisted and turned in the wind as my body began to plummet towards the water. I closed my eyes. Bracing myself for the painful impact.
But it never came. I opened my eyes to find myself skimming the surface of the water as massive brown feathered wings made me glide through the air. As I looked into the reflection off the water, long brown horns curved out of my head while my body was now covered in a feathered sort of dress which was the same colour.
Quickly I began to soar up into the sky, away from the edge of the cliff. I clutched at the growing wound on my arm as I left behind my life which had been destroyed in front of my very eyes.
