It was now 8:50 pm as I quickly walked through the corridors. Checking behind me as I tried to get to the room of requirement unnoticed. I didn't even want to imagine what punishments Umbridge had up her sleeve for people out past curfew; especially if she caught me.
Soon I was walking down the corridor on the seventh floor as the door began to materialise in front of me. I checked behind myself one more time before I opened the door and slipped into the room.
As I entered all the other members stopped talking and turned to look at me as I closed the door behind me. Slowly I walked through the students towards where Harry stood beckoning me over. Gradually the sea of students parted so that I now stood beside Harry, Ron and Hermione.
"As you all know, times are getting darker and the possibility of another war has come to light. That's why we're here today, we need to make a stand. No matter how hard Umbridge tries to tell us otherwise, we know that we need to prepare. We need to make a stand, not only for Hogwarts. But for your parents and the people you hold close to you. Harry and Rose have both witnessed how easily they can be ripped from you. They've seen how they show no remorse and now it's time we show them that we won't stand for it any longer. We will not stand down. We will fight until the end." As soon as Hermione had finished the room erupted into loud cheers and clapping with people yelling and throwing their fists into the air.
"Now, today we'll be working in three groups on different aspects of fighting. After everyone has practised, the groups will rotate so that everyone has a chance to practice different skills. Ron, you'll share a group with Hermione working on defence against the dark arts, I'll take a group on duelling and Rose your group can work on their patronus'." Harry instructed as the crowd of students immediately started separating into three groups.
"Right today we'll be practising our Patronus'. This is probably one of the hardest defensive charms to master but as long as you all put in all of your effort, I don't see why any of you can't manage it. So umm- I'll start off by giving a demonstration." I said as the group circled around me as I took out my wand. I held it firmly in my hand as I pointed it up to the ceiling.
"Expecto Patronum!" I spoke clearly as a stream of silver glittering light seeped from my wand and floated up into the air before materialising into a large raven. It flew around the room, it's massive wings glowing as they flapped majestically. I found myself smiling as I watched the bird fly until eventually it faded into silver dust.
"Now who wants to go first?" I said as a line of students formed ready to practice their patronus'. First in line was Ginny Weasley, she stood there nervously but soon she grew confident as I walked over to her, a warm smile on my face.
"Are you ready?" I asked as I now stood next to her. She responded with a small nod.
"All right then, to start off with, think of your happiest memory. It has to be very powerful, otherwise, you won't be able to form a full patronus. Have you got one?" I said as she took her wand out of her pocket ready to cast the spell.
"Now loud and clear say the incantation moving your wand in a swirling motion," I instructed as Ginny shouted the incantation sending a silver stream similar to mine into the air. The rest of the group watching in awe.
Soon every group had rotated and gradually students began to leave the room until me, Harry, Ron and Hermione were the only ones left.
"We'll have to be more careful with our meetings in future, I've heard that Umbridge knows about the group and is trying to shut it down with the Inquisitorial Squad," Hermione said annoyed as we stood discussing when the next meeting should be. This meant that I'd have to be increasingly careful around Draco, after all, he was the leader and god knows what he'd think of he knew I was part of this.
It was now 11:15 pm as I said my goodbyes and started walking back to the Slytherin common room. The corridors we desolate and the only sound was the wind whistling through the empty corridors. But the sound of footsteps behind me instantly grasped my attention as I looked around panic filling my mind. There was nowhere for me to hide. I stood there frozen to the spot. Squeezing my eyes shut as I tried to summon my powers, the familiar fire began to burn inside my body while I reopened my eyes, my surroundings now slightly wispy, it was as if they were made out of smoke and to my horror the sickening pink of Umbridge was now walking towards me.
Her face was covered in her typical smirk as I waited for her to relish in the fact that she'd caught me; that she'd have a reason to punish me. But she didn't. Instead, she walked straight through me. I stumbled back in shock as I clutched at the spot she'd passed through me. Quickly I started walking through the corridors towards the girl's toilets. Immediately I went over to the mirror, as I looked into it my breath was taken away. I had no reflection. It was as though I was invisible, I closed my eyes and breathed slowly trying to calm myself. When I reopened them, my reflection had reappeared as my golden eyes faded back to their usual emerald green.
I could make myself invisible.
It was now nearly midnight as I walked through the corridors back to the Slytherin common room. As I walked in, Draco was sat there by the fire, his head resting on his palm. He hastily turned around as soon as he heard my footsteps.
"Where have you been?" He asked, a hint of suspicion in his voice. I walked over to him saying nothing as I took his hand and led him up the stairs towards where his room was. We now stood in his room as I turned around after locking the door behind me.
"Rose, what's going on? What are you doing?" He said becoming increasingly suspicious.
"I'm about to show you something. You have to promise on your life that you won't tell anyone that I showed you this." I said to him sternly as he looked at me confused.
"But-?" He began but I walked over to him and placed a finger on his lips.
"Promise me?" I repeated myself as he slowly nodded his head.
"Hold this. It's just to show you that I'm not using my wand." I said quietly, slipping my wand into his hands.
I let out a deep breath as I slowly backed away from him to the other side of the room. Once again I closed my eyes and allowed myself to be engulfed by the fiery feeling which I buried deep inside of me. When I reopened them the room was once again wispy. Draco stumbled back, his free hand clutching at the dresser behind him as he dropped my wand."Wha- What the hell? Rose? Rose where are you? This isn't funny." He said as he began to panic. I started to walk over to him and placed my hand on the side of his cheek. He flinched slightly as his breathing quickened. Slowly I leaned in and kissed him on the lips until he closed his eyes. The kiss deepening as Draco's hands gripped the sides of my arms as if he was scared of me disappearing again. Eventually, I pulled away, his eyes flickered open and relief flooded over him as he realised I was once again in front of him.
"How did you do that? How?-" He asked his voice full confusion. Again I placed my finger on his lips as I leaned in and began to kiss him. His arms enclosed around me as he lifted me off the floor.
And in this moment I realised that I could trust Draco with anything.
I could trust him with my life.
