I sat at the kitchen counter, my leg shaking furiously. I had yet to hit send on my text message to Ethan. I’d given it a day, collected my thoughts along with all the tissues from my bed, and decided to try and give this another go.
I reread the text message for the twentieth time.
“Hey, could we meet and possibly try this again?”
It didn’t seem too suggestive, and it was way less harsh than I was the last time we talked.
I finally hit send, turning my phone over onto the counter. This could take, minutes, seconds, days.
I felt a vibration on my palm. Flipping the phone over in my hand, I opened the new text message. It was indeed Ethan.
“Only if we go to Cici’s, I never got my pizza.”
Typical Ethan.
“Sure, meet in 30?” He all too quickly agreed.
I grabbed my things and checked myself in the mirror before heading out the door. Letting out a sigh I realized I was letting this get way over my head. I hurried out the door and into my car, making my way once more to the pizza joint.
Surprisingly, Ethan was once again early. He stood in the same spot as before, but he seemed a little more on edge.
I don’t blame him.
I exited my car and made my way towards him, trying extra hard to steady my breathing. He lifted his gaze towards me, resting his head back against the brick wall, beautifully showing off his jawline. His eyes were hard. His look truly scared me...what if he was done with me, with us. I pushed the thoughts to the side as I stood in front of him. He wore dark grey sweatpants, an old pair of black vans, his Rider hoodie with the beautifully cut v-neck, and that same white beanie.
“Hey.” I said calmly, meeting his gaze.
“Hi.” He replied coldly, looking down on me.
I felt my heartbeat quicken, my throat started to close in on me. I was through lying, and I admit he looked stunning, even if he was pissed.
“Do you want to head inside?” I asked, gesturing towards the door.
Ethan rolled off the wall and opened the door, letting himself inside. I followed silently. We made our way to the same booth as before, sitting across from each other.
