I laid out on the couch, resting my book against my swollen stomach, as I heard airplane noises coming from the hallway.

I looked up to see Ethan zooming towards the living room, our two year old son seated upon his shoulders with outstretched arms.

“Zoommmmm, zoommmmmm.” he cried out as Ethan dipped and turned.

“Are you sure you’re old enough to be flying such a big airplane?” I asked as I raised a curious eyebrow.

“I’m a pwofessional flyer!” he exclaimed loudly.

“The best in the business.” Ethan added with a wink.

“To the kitchen!” he shouted as he pointed a finger in that direction.

Ethan was off with a dip, zig zagging his way right to the kitchen counter. I closed my book, setting it on the coffee table, and slowly made my way into the kitchen to join them.

“How did I ever get so lucky?” I asked placing my hands on my lower back.

Ethan wrapped his own around me, smiling down at me.

“Hey, what are friends for?” he leaned in closer to me. I placed a finger on his lips.

“Correction, best friends.”
