I woke up to a dark room. I felt my surroundings. I was in a bed. I sat up and checked my arms. They were wrapped in white bandages that Michonne did for me.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

"Mikayla, it's me." Carls voice said from the other side.

"Come in!" I called.

The door creaked open and Carl stepped through. He closed the door behind him and switched on the light.

Once my eyes adjusted, I saw him clearly. Jeans, a blue shirt with a plaid one overtop. And of course, his brown hair under his old sheriff hat.

I smiled slightly as he came and sat down on the bed beside me. He looked over at me and my heart skipped a beat when I saw his blue eyes. God, I was turning into a love sick puppy.

"How are your arms?" He asked quietly. I held them out in from of me and inspected them.

"They're alright, I guess." I answered. He nodded and his eyes moved to look at his lap. We sat in silence for a moment.

There was something...off about him. It was weird.

"Carl, are you ok?" I asked, breaking the silence. He didn't answer.

"Carl?" I asked again. He snapped his head toward me.

"No, Mikayla, I'm not ok. Ever since the prison went down, nothing's been ok." He said exasperated. I looked down. I knew the feeling.

"And to make it even worse, I had been going insane looking for you." He continued quietly. I looked up slowly to find his eyes and locked them with mine.

"I kept telling myself that you were alive because you were strong but something kept telling me you weren't." He continued. I just sat there and searched his face.

"And when I finally find you, you're being tortured and..." He took a long breath.

"I felt like I failed you, or something." He finished.

I snapped out of my trance.

"Oh, Carl. You didn't fail me. You saved me. And not just that time. You saved me all together." I said and smiled slightly.

Out of a moment of boldness, I reached foreword and took his hand in mine. His eyes traveled to our intertwined fingers and then back to my face.

"I think I love you. But...I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you." He said quietly.

"I know I love you." I whispered.

We just stared at each other for what felt like eternity.

"I might kiss you." He whispered.

"And I might be bad at it." I blurted.

He leaned in until our faces were only centimetres apart.

"That's not...that's not possible." He said before lifting his free and and gently taking my cheek and pulling my face toward his.

Out lips met. It was...like my heart was doing a gymnastics routine in my chest.

We slowly continued to kiss. It was sweet and slow. It was perfect.

But the perfect was interrupted by a knock at the door. We quickly pulled away just as Rick and Michonne entered.

They saw how close we were and smirked.

"Oh, were we interrupting?" Rick said innocently. My cheeks reddened and I looked at my lap. I glanced up to see Michonne grinning.

"Yes, Dad. You are." Carl said slightly annoyed, which made Rick chuckle.

"Alright, lovebirds." Michonne started. "That's enough for tonight. You," she pointed to Carl and then to the door.

"Out. Mikayla needs to rest." She said and Carl nodded. He stood up and turned to face me. He bent down quickly and kissed my cheek.

"I'll see you in the morning." He said and I smiled.

"Hey! Out!" Michonne said, laughing. Carl them jogged out off the room and his dad followed.

Michonne turned to me.

"Carl, huh?" She said and raised an eyebrow jokingly.

"Shut up!" I said and tossed a pillow at her. She dodged it and laughed.

"Alright, I'm going. Get some sleep." She said and exited to room, Turing the light out.

I flopped back down I the bed, grinning like an idiot.
