"What!" I didn't know what to do. "C-couldn't we just forget about the bet?"
"But that would be no fun, not to mention unfair, besides." Joshua posed for a moment. "I've already have fallen for you."
"What are you talking about, can't we just stay friends, I mean it would be weird if we'd start dating all of the sudden."
"Jaehyo. It's either you won the bet or I. Now which would you prefer?"
"Could it be a draw, perhaps?"I tried my luck.
"No, no draws. Now, please decide."
"I mean." I looked at my chocolate bar, avoiding Joshua's gaze. "I think that I'd prefer if you won the bet." I said in the quiet voice.
"Don't worry, I won't be a pushy boyfriend; we won't kiss or anything like that until you're comfortable. We'll take it a step at a time. Okay?" He gave me the most gentle smile.
I just nodded still looking at the chocolate bar.
"You know, you're just too cute." He whispered into my ear.
"W-what?" I could only feel my face grow red. Then I realized that he just spoke Korean. I slowly lifted my head, confused. "You know Korean?"
"I mean, yes. Basically. Sorry I hid it from you. Please forgive me." The smile was now gone from his face.
"That would explain everything, but you know. It feels weird speaking Korean to you. I sort of gotten used to English."
"So you're not angry?"
"Well, I am, since due to translating for you I lost some valuable time that I could have used to focus more on my studies and notes and my grades wouldn't have gone down." I gave him a bit of angry look. He looked upset. Then I continued. "But it isn't all that bad, I mean if it wasn't for your act I'd still be alone, and wouldn't of have met such jerk of a friend as you. So I guess it can be forgiven." I smiled.
"A jerk of a friend, hu. Well I guess you're not wrong, but isn't it a jerk of a boyfriend now?" He laughed.
"Yeah, you're right." I joined in the laughter.
"Jeahyo, Joshua. Stop flirting and be quiet. The class is starting." Our home room teacher came.
"Um. Sorry sir. This will not happen again." I said as I took out my books. My face red from embarrassment.
The rest of the day went by fast. Before I knew it the final bell rang. "So, why did you want to meet at the park, still want to go?" Joshua smiled.
"Well, I just wrote the message so I could apologize to you, just in case you were still angry with me. But I already apologized to you, so there would be no point in going." I explained.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, why?" I made an confused face. What is he playing at?
"Well, since we started dating today, we might as well go on a date to the park. I mean the weather's great and sunny."
"A date? Isn't it a bit too soon?"
"In that case, you can think of it as 'hanging out' with your boyfriend." He smirked. However, this smirk was not annoying.
"You're not going to let this go, are you?"
"Nope."
"Okay. Let's go then." I said with a little bit of a sigh. He's acting like a child.
In the end we went to the park. We just walked around and talked. Well Joshua talked, I answered and avoided some questions.
"So are you doing anything tomorrow?" Joshua asked.
"Well, I was hoping I could get some studying done."
"So, basically, you're free?"
"Well not really. I still plan to study. Don't want my grades going any lower."
"I doubt they will. Anyways, I'll come to pick you up tomorrow at 10 in the morning."
"I never agreed to it. Besides I told you that I have plans." Who does he think he is?
"Don't worry, you still be able to study when we comeback."
"But still, I won't get done as much as I was hoping."
No matter how much I tried to explain that I wanted to study Joshua just wouldn't let it go.
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you then." I said admitting defeat.
"I knew you'd agree." He gave me a wide smile. "By the way, are you hungry?"
"Now that you mention it, I kind of am."
"Okay, I'll get us something to eat on one condition."
"Okay, what's the condition?" Was this another of his teasing games. He can be a jerk sometimes.
"I want to hear you say three special words to me."
"Three special words?" Seriously, what is he playing at. What are the 'three special words?' "Three special words? Please, Sorry, thank you?" I said unsure. Joshua burst out laughing. I just felt my face getting warmer.
A moment later he stopped laughing. "You're just too cute." He smiled. "I guess I'll just have to wait until you'd say the words naturally." He paused. "But since you said 'please' I'm going to buy some dinner for us."
"I don't get you. So what were the three words in the end?"
"I guess you'll just have to figure it out by yourself."
"You know what, you're a jerk."
"Yeah, I already knew that princess."
Not long after we reached a small cafe. "So what would you like?" Joshua asked as we walked in.
"I think I'll have some kimchi noodles." I said as I looked at the menu.
"In that case you go find us some seats and I'll go order."
"Thank you" I did as I was told.
A minute later Joshua came with a number and put it in the stand. "They said that the wait should be around 20 minutes"
"That's alright. I should pay you back. This is practically the third time you bought me food." I said as I searched for my wallet in my bag.
"Third? This is the second time. And don't worry about the money."
"Are you sure? You already bought me a burger, gave me chocolate and now this. I'll feel bad if I don't pay you back."
"Alright, then think of the date tomorrow as a payment for the food. What do you think about a deal like that?"
"Okay, thank you then. What did you order for yourself by the way?"
"Kimchi noodles." Joshua answered.
Some time later the waitress came with our food and took the number. "Enjoy your food." She smiled, more at Joshua though.
"Thank you." Both of us said in unison.
The food both looked and tasted delicious.
After we finished eating, Joshua insisted on walking me home. Although he was living in the opposite direction from me. He really is one confusing guy.
