Chapter 6 New student

Olivers Pov

The first week went well. Gavin and I realized we take the same train to and from school, so we'd make sure we got on the same train. Everything is like before, but there's something that still doesn't feel right.

I get on the train and greet Gavin.

Oliver: Good morning.

Gavin: Morning.

Oliver: Did you bring clothes for pe?

Gavin: Yeah, did you?

Oliver: Of course!

Gavin: Are you still going to the gym?

Oliver: Not as often as I used to. I'm focusing more on soccer right now. I guess you're still going to the gym.

Gavin: Yeah. As you know I don't play any sports. Also, it gets me on other thoughts, which makes me more relaxed.

We continue to talk until we arrive at school. We enter the classroom and sit the furthest back. The lesson starts and everyone opens their math books.

Teacher: Good morning. Before we start with the math lesson, I will introduce a new student that will be joining this class. His name is Simon. You can go and sit next to David, the tall boy.

David waves and Simon sits down in front of us and greets David. They talk a little while the teacher continues the lesson.

I can't be bothered to listen to what the teacher is talking about. Instead, I look through Instagram and find something fun that makes me laugh. I show the post to Gavin that chuckles. David hears us and turns around.

David: What are you laughing at?

I show the post to David.

David: Hahah, it's good. I've seen it before.

Simon also turns around. I turn the phone towards him and he smiles.

Simon: Funny post. By the way, what's your name?

We introduce ourselves. Simon looks at Gavin in a weird way.

Simon: Wait... You look familiar.. Do you have a relative named Malek?

Gavin: Yes, I do.

Simon: Is he 19 years old, has short black hair, fit body, tattoo on his chest and lower back and is obsessed with his motorcycle.

Gavin: Yes, how do you know him?

Simon: He's an old friend of mine. And you, what kind of relative is he to you?

Gavin: He's my cousin.

Teacher: Okay now you can start working in your books.

We get startled. Simon and David turn back so they can work.

The math lesson ends and we walk out of the classroom. Before I get the chance to start a conversation with Gavin, he interrupts me.

Gavin: Your name's Simon, right? When did you and Malek meet?

Simon: We met three years ago.

Gavin: Are you still talking to each other?

Simon: A bit, but not as often.

They continue to talk about Malek. Gavin seems to be very interested in Simon's relationship with his cousin. I can understand why he is. It's because he looks up to his cousin and from what I've heard from Gavin, Malek wouldn't be hanging with someone like Simon. Malek is more of a troublemaker while Simon looks more like a victim.

The day goes by and they continue to talk with each other whenever they can. I didn't get the chance to talk to Gavin..
