Chapter 7 Spanish lesson

Olivers Pov

It's the first lesson of the day and the first Spanish lesson this year. I sit in the back of the classroom and Simon walks up to me.

Simon: Is this seat free?

Oliver: Yeah.

Ever since Gavin and Simon talked to each other, we have all three started hanging out. Simon sits beside me.

Simon: Where is Gavin?

Oliver: Gavin is in the French class.

Simon: Very random, but do you know if Gavin likes guys? You know, in that way...

Oliver: Ehhh, what the fuck? That IS very random..I don't know. Why do you even ask?

Simon: I was just wondering.

Oliver: Are you interested or something?

Simon: Maybe I am.

Oliver: Umm, are you gay?

Simon: Yes, I'm homosexual.

Oliver: Yeah.. okay...

Simon: Do you know if he's single?

Oliver: Eh, I don't know. I'm not the right person to ask..

Simon: Then, how long have you known each other?

Oliver: Like ten years.

Simon: Shit, that's a long time. How can you not know these things about him then?

Oliver: It's not like we talk about things like that..

We don't have more time to talk before the lesson begins. I'm glad the lesson began because it was so fucking awkward.

I wonder if Simon was serious or not? He seemed a bit sarcastic. Imagine if they get together. Will I lose my best friend again? Though, he deserves a boyfriend anyway. After what I've done. Maybe I should give Simon a chance to talk with Gavin alone.

The day continues as usual, but I let Simon and Gavin sit next to each other on the lessons. When Gavin asks why, I just say I want to focus on my studies. Behind me, I hear how Simon flirts with Gavin. I knew it.

It's been a few weeks now since Simon started in our school. Every time it's just me and him, he asks about Gavin. It could be which clothing brands he likes, to what he usually does at home.

To give them time together, I've started to distance myself from them more than just allowing them to sit next to each other.

It can be that I don't hang out after school because I have "something to do at home" or that I'm sitting with other people at lunch. I've also been using my phone and headphones more. They don't seem to have noticed, or they just don't care.

Simon flirts with Gavin often but Gavin doesn't seem to care... Maybe he likes him back? Gavin seems a bit interested in Simon.

I'm not enjoying this... It feels a bit lonely without Gavin and deep down i feel a pain i can't explain.
