Cassie didn't wake up for days. Her body was so badly damaged. The doctors didn't know if she would live or not. The amount of starvation Cassandra had put herself through could be the cause of her death.
The question everyone is probably thinking is,
"Why did no one notice?"
Well the trouble is, everyone noticed, just no one cared enough to help. Not even her best friend. Her parents didn't even see her through the day most of the time. They never took a second glance at her, why would she stop when she knew she was getting away with doing it.
Cassie's parents were called in to the hospital and of course, they were in complete shock. Indeed they loved their dearest Cassandra after all. It wasn't all in Cassie's head though, she felt neglected because she simply was. They didn't show her love or appreciation for anything she did. Christmas and birthdays were short and lonely. So how was she to know? Her mum started to cry and her Dad joined her. Their poor baby. Their poor, dearest child that they loved. Isn't it a shame that they never told Cassie that? Maybe she wouldn't be in this state if they did.
sure enough though. Cassie awoke from her coma the next morning. its not like in the movies where she wakes up and sees her mum and dad asleep on chairs next to her, there was no one there. they had left. fair enough, they had a baby but it was just complete silence for her. A doctor came in and introduced herself to Cassie.
"Oh hello! you're awake? Excellent! its Cassandra Ainsworth, isn't it? I'm doctor Alissa Roberts. its lovely to meet you. Its a shame its under these conditions."
She said happily, while looking at her sheet to make sure she had her name correct.
"yes-I'm she. why-why am I here? Where is here? Am in a hospital?"
She replied panicked but she knew where she was, of course she was in a hospital.
"you are, dear. But don't worry, everything's fine now! We are here to make you better. You'll be staying in our clinic for a while. Just so we can keep you healthy. Do you have any questions?"
"When was this decided? no-no, I'm sorry, but I'm going home"
she said, still panicked and freaked out.
"I'm sorry, Cassandra. I cant let you leave. Legally, you need to stay with us anyway, but because your parents have singed this form, its clear that you've to stay with us for at least 6 months. I'm sorry but its the was it has to be. You're not well and that's why i am here. I will try to help you and your condition."
Alissa said, softly demanding that she stayed where she was. Cassie sighed and looked down to the ground before she responded.
"Its Cassie."
"Cassie? I like that more."
