When the class ended, Cassie rushed out of the classroom and into the bathroom. She went into a stall and locked the door behind her. Michelle had followed her into it. She banged on her stall door.
"What was all that about?"
"What was all what about?"
Cassie replied trying to wipe the smile off her face.
"That lie. You lied to him Cassie. You only live 5 minutes down the road and your nans been dead since we were 8. What was the point in lying when you could of just said you slept in?"
"Why does it matter, Chelle?"
"Because Cass. I don't recognise you anymore. What's happened to you? You're lying all the time, to everyone. To me. I've heard all the rumours Cass, and I know they aren't just rumours. You don't spend time with me anymore. I literally haven't seen you in 3 days. And.... you've lost so much weight..... Please come out. So we can talk, I want to talk."
Cassie began to get upset. Not because Michelle was angry. But because of how she wasn't able to lie her way out of this one.
"They are just rumours, Michelle."
"No they aren't, I've saw you, Cass. Going off with them. I've also saw you not eat any lunch in months. You look ill! Please, come out of there!"
Cassie let out a still breath and laughed. Hysterically.
"What the hell is wrong with you? You need to let me help, Cassie."
"I'm fine, Michelle."
She said, dragged out.
"What have you taken? I can hear it in your voice. You better tell me. I need to know."
Cassie laughed again
"It's so funny.... because, you've never cared before. Haven't you?"
"Cass. Please."
"Say it Michelle."
Cassie demanded.
"Say what? Say that I love you? That I care for you and that you're the best friend I've ever had? No Cass, I won't. I won't say that because you haven't been. You've been completely different with me and I've given up."
Cassie smile dropped and the tears began to flow from her eyes. She had been kicked in the stomach with realisation that Michelle didn't care anymore. And all because she wanted control of the things she did and the people she knew. She begun to get angry.
"Well! Maybe there's a reason that I've not been eating 'Chelle! But you don't give a fuck do you?."
She quickly Opened the bathroom door and hit the side of Michelle's arm in the process. Cassie was still weak. All the strength she had was opening that door and when it was gone and the adrenaline had worn off. She fell to the floor. Her heart missing beats and her breaths bringing to slower.
