Michelle was waiting at the corner café 20 minutes longer than she should of have. Cassie was late as usual. She would look at her watch every 30 seconds, hoping it would be later than it was. Finally, after another 10 minutes, Cassie comes stumbling round the corner. Michelle sighed and pained a smile on her face. She knew she couldn't change Cassie, so she tried her best just to except that her best friend would never be the same person she once knew.
"Oh my god, Chelle. I'm sooooo sorry I'm late. I got a bit lost." She spoke in long, dragged out words. Obviously well into a drug induced state.
"You got los- - No, it's okay Cass. Let's just get a move on. Sid and Tony are waiting." She tried to blow off cassie's hazy mind and tried to make sure she was okay, but got no where with the conversation. She thought, "fuck it." And played along and tried to have a good time, chugging vodka down from a fresh bottle she'd stole from the local shop.
They ran along the road, holding hands like 6 year olds, laughing uncomfortably. They saw the boys standing outside the gates.
"Tony!" Michelle Shouts from across the empty road. She lets go of cassie's hand and grabs him, kissing him passionately. Cassie looks over at sid. Remembering his face, after not seeing him in such a long time. He makes brief eye contact with her, before looking away. Michelle lets go of Tony and looks around confused.
"Erm, Where is everyone?"
"Not coming, and Sid has to sell or he's in shit with his dealer." Tony replies looking at sid, with an obvious look of joy on his face, Knowing sid had messed up.
"Hang on. 'My dealer?'" Sid responds, pissed off with with Tony because it was him that sent him in the first place.
"Anyway, I brought Cassie. Cassie, you remember Sid, right?" Michelle pulls Cassie over. A wide grin appears on her face as she answers Michelle.
"Yeah, wow, lovely No.But I like that you're funny-Iooking. That's cute - like, wow, man." Cassie pretends not to remember sid, Michelle knowing fine well she does. Even if she wasn't on pills. Her response would still of been awkward. That's just how she it.
"How's the treatment going, Cassie?" Tony asked
"- Oh, it's cool. I wear a white dress and now I can eat yoghurt, Cup-a-Soup and hazelnuts now. I'm not sick if they let me play with the cats. Yeah, it's like hazy days, you know."
Michelle must of not mentioned to them that she was returning home. She'd still have to go check in every week but she was living at home now.
"Well, that's encouraging." Tony says, sarcastically.
"Oh, thank you. You're so nice." Cassie grabs hold of Tony, hugging him then proceeds to kiss him. Michelle pulls her off him
"Cass, Cass, Cass! Sid's going to be looking after you tonight."
"Oh, would you? Wow!" She looks back at sid again.
"And Sid's got a whole bag of drugs." Tony adds
Wow! That's so nice. And I bet you won't even make me eat anything."
"No. No." Sid gets started with the statement Cassie says
"Thank you." She runs over to sid and hugs him before moving back next to Michelle.
