"Why do u look so glum?" Natsu walked over to my desk.T-T
"I got a 24 on my exam! How is it possible I got a lower score than last time and I even studied and had you tutor me!!!" I groaned and slammed my face on the desk.
He continued the conversation, so I kept my head on the desk but just turned it so that my left cheek was on it. "Well maybe next time, we'll just study extra hard!" He gave a thumbs up along with his signature grin. This raised my spirits and I gave a smile, lifting my head, "yeah! I'm all fired up now!" Natsu glared at me. "Uh I mean- yeah can't wait!"

"Hey Christmas is coming up right?" I asked, confused about any sort of holidays. We were already walking home from school. "Yeah! It's in 3 weeks."I stopped walking and my face lit up with an idea as I slammed my left fist onto the palm of my right hand. "I got an idea!" I raised my pointer finger in the air, indicating that I indeed did have an idea. They stopped walking, and turned around and stared at me. Natsu's hands were holding onto the straps of his book bag.
"What do you mean?" Natsu asked, obviously curious about what I meant.
"I mean, the fact that I haven't gotten a job yet, and Christmas is right around the corner! And I'm sure lots of places are hiring because of the Christmas rush sales!" By now, I was staring at the blue sky, thinking my plan through.
"Hey Natsu!" I broke out of my 'thinking out loud' and looked at him.
His eyes narrowed with curiosity, "hmm?"
"Why don't you guys come with me to see which stores are hiring!" They turned around and started walking home, Happy put his back hand up mid-air, "nah, we'll pass!" They strutted off back to the house. "How rude!!" I exclaimed with my fists at my side.
I sighed, and gained my composure. "Well I guess I'm doing this on my own."

I walked around town, looking at the buildings I passed, thinking of a good place to work. After an exhausting 2 hours of getting denied, I wanted to take a break. So I went to a coffee shop. The clerk handed me my coffee and I sat down at a tall seat by the window. I let out a sigh, as I took out the novel I was writing. I continued,Keena cried out as water flowed through her legs. "Your mother was an extraordinary person; the best master I've ever had. When she lost her life, and my key was passed onto you...I could barely take it. You were an ignorant brat who cried all the time and took everything for granted. You didn't inherit an ounce of your mother's natural grace, but I had to tolerate you because you were Kayla's daughter. I loathed you. Despised you. For such a very long time." Akueriasu blurted out as she used all her strength to hold back the demon, Zou. Keena cried into her hands, "I don't care if you hate me! You are still my first friend and I love you! There's nothing you can say that can change that; stop trying!" Akueriasu argued back, "quit acting like a damn child! You can loose every friend you have or you can just loose me! What matters most in life? Keys? Memories? Your guilty conscience? Or is it this: the strength to make sacrifices; to protect the ones you love, even when it hurts you? If that's it, then break my key right now! Konji isn't coming! It's all on you!" Zou inched closer, "pick your words carefully girls. This will be the last fight you will ever have." Keena made a decision. She took a deep breath. "I love you Akueriasu. I love you so much." Akueriasu yelled back, "yeah! I know! Now do it!" Keena's tears seeped out her body as she pointed the key out in front of her. Her eyes clenched shut and she screamed, releasing all her magic power into breaking the key. Feels like my hearts on fire Akueriasu thinks to herself. She continues to think to herself. I meant what I said; I hate you stupid brat. Keena raises the key up in the air as she shouts, "OPEN!" Akueriasu starts to get flashbacks, as she holds her fist up to her chest. I can't stand her, but...
Keena continues to shout, "Gate of the KING!!!!" These emotions... more flashbacks appeared in her head. These damned feelings, I can't stop them. Flashbacks of when Keena was a child and she kept summoning her during her bath and out of a fishbowl had appeared. Despite myself, I'm gonna miss you. You suck! I'm gonna miss you bad. Keena brought the key down to her chest as a light appeared, while she repeated the words. "OPEN! GATE OF THE KING!!!" A tear fell down Akueriasu face and a smile crossed her cheeks. I'm grateful though, for every moment we shared. And with that, Akueriasu key shattered into a million bits and pieces, just like Keena's heart.[A/N- Pronounced Z-OW]
I settled my pen down, and cracked my knuckles out in front of me. I then noticed a drop fall onto the paper. I looked down, and then touched my cheeks. Wow. This scene was so powerful. It was almost like I understood Keena's pain. Like the same thing happened to me.
I wiped the tears away with my sleeve and put a smile on my face, closing up my book. I took a sip from my coffee before someone sat on the chair next to me, startling me out of my thoughts. "Hello. What's that you're reading?" He pointed to my brown leather book. My face became red, "oh it's nothing" I swatted my hand, while scratching the back of my head, acting like it wasn't a big deal, and hoping to change the subject.
He noticed the pen next to the book, "you're a writer, too?" I looked at him. Too? Does that mean he is one? "Uh well, um I'm just a wanna-be" I scratched the side of my cheek, looking away in embarrassment. "Can I read it?" I started putting the book in my bag, "sorry, I already promised one of my friends that she'd be the first one to read it when I finished." He gave off an understanding expression. "Well do you know Sorcerer Weekly?"
"You mean the only best magazine ever to have existed?!" My eyes lit up.
"Yeah, well I have a buddy over there, Jason, and he's looking for a journalist. Here's his phone number. If you're ever looking for a job, tell him The Writer recommended you." He wrote the phone number on a napkin and winked at me, hopping of his chair. My eyes lit up, holding the napkin up in mid air. YES!! I finally have a job! I'll call him when I get back home.

I put the key in the keyhole and opened the door. "Natsu? Happy? I'm back!" I entered a darkened room. I sighed as the moonlight that shone through the window near the bunk beds in the living room lit up their sleeping faces. I set my stuff on the counter and walked into the bedroom. I shut the door, hoping not to wake them up with the phone call. I left the lights off and I plopped down on the edge of the bed, and sat up straight. Dialing the number, a couple of rings were heard before someone picked up."Jason here, from Sorcerer Weekly. How can I help you?"
"Um well...you see. My name is Lucy Heartfilia and earlier I was at a coffee shop and I was continuing to wri-"
"Listen Lue. Can I call you Lue? Yeah? Okay. Well, Lue, I don't have time for you're whole life story. Either get straight to the point or I'm hanging up."
Shivers were sent down my spine.
Flustered, I continued to speak. "Okay um well I was looking for a job and The Writer recommended me for you. I heard you needed a journalist."
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone.
"Hmmm? Okay. Along with your application, I want you to write a juicy scoop by next Friday. You think you can dig it? Cool! Okay see you next Friday for your interview."
I didn't even get another word in before he hung up. Okay he may be strange but he's all I got. And with that thought in my mind, I started to get ready for bed.
