Cara Campbell's POV

My hand hurts like a bitch but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

I can't believe Jonathan was the one behind everything? Since when? Why? I don't understand. He was kind, sweet, caring, responsible and a worthy Beta to any Alpha. Doing this would just ruin everything for him.

Especially when I get my hands on him, I'll show him what facial reconstruction really means.

Erick was whining for me. I cradled my hands for a few minutes knowing that my thumbs were broken. They would heal but obviously not in a matter of minutes. A few minutes later I look up and smiling at my mate. It stings that he didn't tell me he had met Jonathan before but that would be a talk after this.

Getting up, I went to Erick and kissed him to will him to calm down. His half wolf form was gone.

After a trembling, painful and throbbing pain of trying to unlock the locks with my pinky claw, Erick hugged me after he was freed.

He kissed my hand and said "Don't do this again Cara".

"This is the only way. My hands are smaller than some girls so it's easier to free my hand. Apparently that douche may have made it slightly tighter" I sigh as I leaned onto him.

His eyes shows that he was dreading to go through the door but that's the only way.  It's as easy as walking down a road with mines every step cause you'll never know what you can trigger or come across.

We opened the door- surprised that it wasn't locked but thankful that the fate is on our side.

Tiptoeing, I wished that I my thumbs would heal faster just in case I need to punch a person or two. With this state I wouldn't be able to punch someone so I would have to shift into my wolf.

"How are we going to find our way out?" Erick whispered.

"When we find it"

He looked at me with slit eyes but smiled. "True".

We came across stairs. Up must mean a way out.

Hurriedly we ran up the stairs as quiet and fast as we could. I could my cold sweat and the beating of my heart. We either make it or we don't.

Reaching up to the door we realized that it was locked. Erick and I positioned ourselves in front of the door and rammed our bodies through it. Luckily, the door broke open but causing us to fall on the floor.

With that said, the alarm was turn on. Footsteps were scattering.

Erick pulled me up and we started running again before opening up another door.

Looking around it looked like an abandoned warehouse.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"

Looking down I saw that there were Jonathan and a few men standing behind him. Some shifted wolves were also standing behind them. Stepping back, there were also men standing behind us.

"We have to shift and fight our way through" I mind-linked Erick.

"I know. Don't do anything stupid Cara and putting me before yourself"

I smirked at him. No matter what he will always be my priority.

Holding his hands, I guide him by jumping onto the rail and shifted mid-air.
