Unknown's POV

Since I first saw her, I had developed these feelings for her.

She wasn't like the other Alphas' daughters who stood out. She kept quiet to herself but she was more than what she set out herself to be.

We had been friends for a week during the gathering. The gathering was for the the higher ranks in packs which they have to discuss about treaties and make sure no one violated any rules.

During the span of time we spent together, I thought we would be mates for sure. She was everything I ever wanted and somehow it felt like she understood me.

Strangely my wolf approves of her too.

So when I met my mate, I was just stunned and speechless. She was everything that Cara wasn't. A normal pack member, brown hair and brown eyes with a dimple present on her left cheek and stood at 5"2. She used to be my junior in high school. But I just couldn't.

Although it broke my wolf's heart to reject my mate I had to.

I had a goal in life and I needed to achieve it.

I've chose Cara and no mate of mine will stand in the way. So I made sure she would stay quiet and never utter a word of this.

For that one year I had been following my sweet Cara. I had people updating me of her activities. When it was her birthday I was the happiest person when she didn't meet her mate right away.

Another thing that I like about Cara was that since she was next in line- I could be Alpha. I could lead my own pack with a perfect strong mate. I had it all planned out.

At the gathering when we met again, Cara had told me of her disappointments of not meeting her mate. She also said something ridiculous about how she will always wait for her mate and no one could come between them.

Rubbish.

Listening to that it took all my strength to smile at that without breaking the champagne glass I was holding.

But I had to remember. I have to stay calm, cool and collected. Be everything she needs me to be. A perfect friend, for now.

A month later I heard from a source she had found her mate.

Fuck you Cara Campbell.

I was so close to go on a killing rampage. I didn't reject my mate just so your mate can take you away.

So I did what I had to do. I kept a close eye on him. I had helped Josh with his plan but Cara had became the heroin in the end.

And then the training. I couldn't set anything into motion because the Beta or third in command was always just there or Cara and the Alpha will be close. To settle my irk I went and hit him that one time when he was alone and vulnerable. Ah, satisfaction. Just to play around and make him feel pain. So the only thing left was to confront him and scare him.

But he had the guts to mark her after I told him to leave her?

Wow.

The bastard defied me.

Hmm... nevermind Erick Shaw. I have waited for more than a year. I could wait for awhile longer. She still hasn't gotten the Alpha title yet so I need to be very subtle.

I needed a new plan.

"What on Earth are you doing?"

I looked up to see my Alpha. "I was just thinking. Sorry".

"If it's about your mate, in time you will find her. Just wait and cherish her when you find her. As my Beta, I am sure you will find a mate that is wonderful" he puts a hand on my shoulder.

I nodded and a smile forming on my face. "Yes she will be. I know so".

The mate I chose was more than perfect.
