Cara Campbell's POV

Anger filled me as I watched Erick succumbed to the tranquilliser. It probably knocked him out. Something was definitely wrong. Erick acted strange and he knew something was wrong before any of us could react.

Was he hiding something from me; again?

Didn't he learn anything from previous events that hiding things from me don't end up well?

But I couldn't process this thoughts properly. My mate was just sedated and these strange rogues that looks like zombies honestly was a threat which means I can't waste any time.

Jack was already holding off three. I attacked the one that was pulling Erick away. I jumped at it and snapping my jaws on it's neck while my paws clawed violently. The taste of their blood sickens me. With one hit I managed to rip it's throat. Instinctively my body spills out the blood from the rogue. It was disgusting.

After that two more pinned me down taking the advantage that I was puking some blood. They look sick but boy they were quite strong. I rolled over on my back, biting anything I could get, my claws reaching out to get whatever they can to slash and rip. Managing to knock them off I got on my feet and began to do my job on them. Beating them before killing them.

Hearing Jack's whine I immediately went to his aid and attack the rogue that was on his back biting his scruff causing blood to leak. In a second, I was on the rogue's back pulling it back and clawed it's neck causing blood to splash all. Over.

Jack and I stood side by side. Their blood makes me sick and I could tell Jack was feeling the same thing. In front of us, two rogues were left still, bigger than the ones before.

I wanted to puke with how bad their blood smells like.

That's when I saw in the distance behind these two rogues, another rogue was already dragging Erick away.

My blood boils as I saw it dragging my mate like a piece of trash, probably hurting him in the process as well.

Jack and I clashed with the other two at the same time. Claw meets claw, teeth meeting teeth and blood splattered everywhere. I managed to pin one of them down and I bit down on its snout breaking it before killing it.

When I was done, I turned to Jack still fighting and I jumped in on the fight and we both finished the rogue.

I could hear paws coming our way and in my hazy eyes I saw our pack members warriors coming closer, some in human form too. Jack and I threw up the blood that was accidentally swallowed while we fought just now. The brutal fight we endured just now, got us quite a few wounds.

"Cara, Jack what happened?!" Tyler came running towards us.

Jack changed into his human form, naked on the ground as he continued to throw up. Everyone here looked sick from the smell as well. "They took Erick away, one of the rogues, there, and they uh.. they shot sedated him. And their foul blood is making us sick" he managed to finish.

Unknowingly I had transformed into my human form back and Tyler hurriedly covered my body. All of a sudden Jack passed out. A few moments later I too couldn't open my eyes anymore.

When I woke up I was in the infirmary. Jack was on the bed beside me. Slowly I got up feeling a slight pain near my forehead.

"Cara you're awake!" one of the nurses greeted me.

"How long have I been out? Where is Erick? What happened after we passed out?" I was frantic. I got up and my world spinned for a few seconds.

"Please calm down. We're not sure of the situation but we've mind linked Beta Tyler. Please wait for him" they soothingly talked to me.

Within 5 minutes Tyler came in and I was already pacing around like a mad person.

"Explain the situation to me now"

"Cara calm down okay. After you two passed out, I sent three search teams for Erick. For awhile they got to track his scent but then it disappeared. Even now, we're still looking for him but we don't have any clues. The rogues, that you both killed were studied. Their blood was foul. That's why it made you both sick. Your body is rejecting it, it was like poison. Even vampires would be sick if they drank some. So the doctors had to clean out your stomachs from the blood. You have been passed out for two days now"

I just stared at him and took all the information in.

"Tyler, before that incident happened, Erick has been acting strange. I feel like Jack knew a bit about what was going on. Now that he's passed out, we can't ask him. From my observation, Erick had been very... jittery. This may have been going on for awhile. I've got my suspicions but two days ago I wanted to ask them that before we were ambushed"

"This is very troublesome"

"Yes it is especially since we can't track him again. I need to see my dad. I want him to contact his allies and try to find Erick. In the meantime Tyler, go to the places Erick usually goes to, like the school and gym- search within 1km radius and see if there are something wrong that you can find. Also, leave two person here to interrogate Jack once he wakes up and have them report to me"

I somehow arrived at the Alpha's office even in my state.

"Cara, what are you doing here?" my father helped me to sit on the chair.

"About Erick dad" my voice almost croaked.

He sighs. "I just made a few calls to the packs living near us. Hopefully they can trace things that we can't reach. I'll tell you if there's any news. Now you need to rest".

"But dad-"

"No buts Cara. I am your father first before your Alpha. So listen to me"

I hang my head low, knowing it's true that I had to rest and there's nothing we could do with no tracks or leads.

OKAY WELL GUYS. I'M SORRY IT TOOK ME LIKE HALF A YEAR TO UPLOAD THE NEXT CHAPTER AND LEFT YOU HANGING FROM THE PREVIOUS ONE.

I will try to upload more frequently and finish the book soon. This chapter is not properly edited or proof read yet but will try soon. Even with the previous chapters since I can still see some writing error.
