Erick Shaw's POV

When Jack came a huge breath of relief left me. I was almost trembling and shaking. Jack looked around and nothing seems suspicious but his eyes showed that he was worried about me. "Are you sure you're okay Erick? You might have a fever or something?".

His hand touched my forehead to feel my temperature.

"Werewolves don't get sick easily Jack. I know I'm fine. I think I was just being paranoid" I pushed his hands away.

"The incident may be too much for you. It was a real shit that went down and you both could have died or get hurt. I understand that- but you need to know it's over. If there's anything or someone that's fucking suspicious is in this school or at the pack land I know our pack members will inform the Alpha"

I nodded. Understanding his context.

"But I swear dude, it felt like I was watched. Just before you came in, it disappeared" I look at him hoping he knows I'm not lying.

He wipes his face with his hands. "But I've checked the library through and through. Even so, you do seem very disturbed. For now, I'll make sure to be with you more often. I advice you to always be with someone also. For tonight, why don't you bring Cara to your place for a sleepover?" he says, not judging me.

"Thanks Jack" I smiled at him weakly.

I heard the library door opened and Cara came in. She looks between Jack and I and frown. "What happened?".

"Nothing. Just having a talk with Jack. Come here baby" I pulled her and got her to sit on my lap. Her scent calms me down.

She just hugs me back. I knew she will probably ask Jack later so I gave him the eye signal to not tell Cara anything.

Cara just embraced me and I felt safer.

It was just in your head Erick. It probably wasn't real.

That night in my room Cara snuggled closed to me. I wanted to do more than just snuggling with her but I couldn't bring myself to it. My mind was occupied with something else.

The issue of mating Cara has been in the back of my mind but the time never felt right.

Snuggling closer to my mate I began to doze off.

I woke up to fingers trailing my down my arms and then goes up again. The act woke me up completely after a few times. Opening my eyes, my mate had her eyes closed, she's not asleep but she looked contempt. "Morning Cara".

"Morning mate"

I sat down and stretched my body. It was a good sleep definitely. Cara hugged me from behind and slowly kissing my neck. It was all nice until I remembered yesterday's event and the fact that it may happen again today. I froze. "Erick, are you okay? Your heart is beating fast and you don't seem to be enjoying it. Something the matter?" she asked concerned.

"Yeah it's all good"

Breakfast felt bland. I could feel people staring at me while I played with my food.

"Bro, lighten up" Jack nudged me.

"Uhh I'll try"

Cara looked from between Jack and I. "Let's have a run".

"What?" Jack and I look at Cara weirdly.

"Run. Let's go. Take off your clothes and let's run and skip school today" she got up and went to the kitchen after picking up our plates. There was no room for arguments.

Jack and I immediately head to the back of the pack house near the woods and changed into our wolf form. I was now as big as Jack in wolf form and that's an achievement I must say.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Cara in her wolf trotting towards me. She nudged me before speeding off into the woods. It took me awhile but once I realized she left me here I started to chase her with Jack beside me.

It felt good letting my wolf have his fun. Feeling your true self. Your other half. What you truly are. I love this feeling.

I could see Cara running ahead of me. Her wolf was agile and graceful. The morning sun hits her fur making her look shiny and angelic.

She howled in joy as I followed her too feeling in the happiness. Jack just shook his head before speeding off. Taking in the challenge I raced to get beside Cara. She was only a few metres ahead of me when she suddenly stopped.

I couldn't stop my wolf and crashed into her hard.

The impact was slightly painful and I got up huffing at Cara. 'What's wrong?' I mind-linked her.

She didn't answer me. Instead she got up and looked around. She was smelling everything within 5 metres. I couldn't sense or smell anything wrong. Jack was sitting beside me wondering why she was doing the thing she was doing.

Occasionally she would growl or huffed. After 5 minutes she stared around again.

'Seriously Cara, what the hell is going on?' I growled.

'I smelled something. Just for a brief moment but I couldn't get a hint as to where it is. It irritates me'

'Is it not safe here?' Jack asked.

Out of the blue I felt the creeps. Somebody was watching me. It's not safe to be here anymore. 'Erick are you okay?' Cara licked my face.

'We need to run... NOW!' I screamed.

I ran ahead without looking back and I heard their paws started following me from the back. The chills went up my spine.

'Erick what's going on?' Cara tried to talk to me.

But it was too late when I saw a line of rogues in front around 10 of us.

Something was eerily wrong with them. They were skinny almost stick and bones, bloodshot eyes, nonstop dripping salivas and smelled foul.

'Erick, how did you know there was danger?' Cara asked me.

I didn't know. All I knew was that I felt something was going to eat me and we needed to run.

My head was spinning and I couldn't stop myself from shaking. Then I felt a pinch on my neck.

'Jack someone just shot Erick with a tranquilliser! Call the others for backup!!!'

My eyes just rolled back as I fell. I could barely see Cara and Jack attacking those rogues but I couldn't hear anything. That was when I blacked out.
