Chapter 19- Cabin

As the three of them walked on through the forest, Alessia couldn't help but feel tired. They had been walking for almost an hour and her legs felt merely like jello. All their faces and arms were plastered black from the ash that Derick gave them when he was gone into 'hulk'. It was around three in the morning and the moon had now set so there was hardly any light around them. Derick held the sword in his hand that they took as the two girls trudged on.

"How far are we?" Septer groaned.

"Please! We are almost there," Derick replied with drone in his voice.

"Guys, I- I think I'm gonna rest," Alessia said leaning against a tree. Derick stopped along with Septer staring at her.

"Come on, we're almost there. I can practically see the lights of the city," Derick said trying to pull her to stand.

"No Derick. Those are lightning bugs," Septer laughed catching one in her hand. Then she peered her hands open looking inside frowning and letting it go. She looked like she was going to cry.

"What's wrong Septer?" Alessia said trying to open her eyes.

"It's just, I remember seeing lightning bugs with Peter. I just-" Septer stopped and sobbed.

"No, it's okay," Alessia tried to assure her as she held her hands to her eyes.

"We are all tired I know, but-" Derick froze. "Shh!" Derick said putting his finger to his lips.

"Don't shh me, I'm practically in tears!" Septer sobbed.

"No I'm serious be quiet!" Derick demanded looking behind them. Septer sniffed and listened. Their ears pricked to the sound of the forest. A breeze swept over them and then they heard something. A boom!

"Was that a gun shot?" Alessia asked with fear in her voice. Then they heard it again.

"Run!" Septer said as they took off running. Leaves kicked up as they ran as the boom got louder and louder. Now everyone was in full sprint. Septer ran fast then septered. Derick looked and saw she had disappeared.

"Septer! What are you doing?" Derick whispered loudly.

"I- I can't help it!" Septer's voice said as they all went back to running. Alessia tripped on a stick and fell cutting her hands on rocks and thorns.

"OW!" Alessia yelled trying to hold in her pain. Derick stopped and ran over to her seeing she cut both her hands.

"Here," Derick said ripping part of his shirt and wrapping it around her hands.

"OWE!" Alessia yelled closing her eyes tightly.

"Shh, it's be okay," Derick said finishing to wrap her hands.

"Come on guys!" Septer whispered. Her voice seemed to come out of no where since she was septered. Alessia looked up towards where Septer's voice was.

"Come on let's go!" Derick said trying to pull her to her feet.

"Wait," Alessia said. She sat there looking around in all stillness.

"What is it-" Derick asked.

"Shh," Alessia interrupted. Then there was utter silence. Then there was a boom!

"Run!" Septer whispered as she took off.

"No Wait!" Alessia yelled. "It's thunder," Alessia said looking back behind them. At that moment, a flash of light hit the sky along with the thunder roaring.

"Oh," Septer said un-septering herself. Then Alessia winced and as the lightning striked Derick saw her in pain.

"What is it?" Derick asked bending down seeing her in pain.

"I'm okay...just," Alessia said looking down at her hands. Then the thunder roared again making Septer scream.

"Come on, it's going to rain," Derick said holding her by the waist to help her get up. They began walking as Alessia let go of him.

"Look! I think I see something!" Septer said peering behind the trees. "Ligh-" Septer paused and turned to Derick. She walked over to him and held out her hand.

"What?" He asked narrowing her eyes.

"I need to cover your eyes with something, so you don't go hulk again," Septer said.

"What kind of light is it?" Derick said trying to see around her. Septer looked mad. "I was kidding. I can control myself," Derick laughed trying to walk on, but Septer wouldn't move.

"I'm not leaving until you have your eyes closed," Septer retorted.

"It's not my eyes that are the problem, that's Alessia remember?" Derick said trying to move past her.

"But when you see light-" Septer began.

"No, when I breathe it in. Like I said before, I can control myself," Derick said still trying to get past her. "Now move," Derick said glaring at her.

"Not until I know you won't hurt anyone," Septer said crossing her arms.

"Guys!" Alessia burst. She looked miserably tired, well, they all did. "There is no reason to fight. It's just a house, see?" Alessia said pointing to a small cabin in the woods with a dim light glowing inside. "Derick won't go hulk unless he get's angry or mad or something, right Derick?" Alessia asked. She seemed frustrated.

"Right..." Derick said trying to smile at Septer.

"Great, problem resolved," Alessia said as she turned and walked towards the cabin along with Derick.

"W-wait!" Septer yelled after them as she ran up along side Alessia. "What if it's Kenna, and, and she's hiding out there?" Septer whispered.

"I'm sure it's not," Alessia said nodding her head.

"Then why exactly is the person's light on at three in the morning?" Septer whispered as Alessia stopped dead in her tracks.

"Oh gosh," Alessia muttered. Now all of them stood straight in a line staring at the cabin about a hundred yards away.

"Come on guys, I'm sure it's just, a, friendly old man that gets up, extremely early or something," Derick whispered trying to make his opinion sound appealing. Then a loud noise came from the house, sounding like some kind of an animal or something. Then they heard someone yell.

"What the?! That's it, I'm leaving, you, you freak!" A female voice yelled. They scattered and hide behind the trees as the lady walked out of the house.

"No, please! I can explain!" A male voice yelled after her.

"You can't explain this! You've been hiding something and I knew it! Just get away from me!" The lady yelled driving off in her car. The lights dimmed as she drove faster off into the distance. They could hear the boy talking to himself and then the door slammed making it clear he had gone inside. Derick stood against the tree, along with Septer and Alessia against the one beside him.

"Should we go and see if we can sleep there?" Septer asked looking at Alessia's bloody hands.

"Yeah, but let's peek in the window," Derick suggested as they snuck over to the cabin. Alessia peaked in the window and saw it was a boy. He had redish hair and pale skin. He looked about there age, maybe a little older. He had freckled and some kind of cat tattoo on his back that stretched up his neck. His eyes seemed so green, they almost seemed unreal. At that moment he seemed really upset. He sat down and bit his lip. Then something strange happened when he bit his lip; his face grew hair and he grew ears on the top of his head. His body turned long and her grew a tail. He had turned into a cougar.
