The school was unimpressive. It was medium size with gray walls and dark colored doors. Human children littered the courtyard, infesting the place with their breaths and existence. I sensed most of them would go to Hell, which meant more work for me. I cringed at the place and did my best to ignore the Guardian Angels floating by.

A Guardian Angel only follows you if something is wrong with you or if the place around will have something to do with your downcast. I glared at the ones who got too close. Was school really that bad that this many angels were around? They looked at me strangely and then at my John. Suddenly they all looked sad or concerned. Most likely thinking I'll take John's life today. The thought made me shiver. Never in a million years would I do that. (I swear that's not foreshadowing!)

John ignored most of his fellow students, nodding at a few people and glaring at some as well. I stayed close to him, now walking since the place was too small for my wings. John walked into his first period class and sat next to a tall buff kid with a bandana. "Sup' Herc, where's Laf?" He asked as he grabbed his backpack and took a notebook out.

No angels were in here, I sighed in relief. Thank the devil.

"How am I supposed to know? He-"

"Sorry I am late!" A small teen ran in the room before the bell rang. I smelled a French scent in him. Vanilla-y. Not far behind was an Angel with long hair and glowing blue eyes. Adrienne.
I've met her before, 60 years ago in Moscow, Russia. She was doing her best to persuade her human not to jump off a bridge by sending nice and pleasant thoughts, but in the end I ended up taking their soul to Hell for adultery. I haven't seen her since.

"Mister Lafayette, nice of you to join us." The teacher said before telling her kids to get on with their assignments. Lafayette sat near the back with John at his side and Herc in front of them.
When the teacher wasn't looking Lafayette placed a hand on top of John's, "I got your text last night, are you okay?"
John nodded, "Yeah, I wasn't thinking, don't worry I'm fine now."

I had to painfully watch my John cast a fake smile before continuing to work on his French assignment. Lafayette still looked worried, but he too began to work.

"Hello Alexander." Adrienne looked at me oddly, then at John. "Oh please don't tell me it's John time, he and Lafayette just started to-"

"No, no, I'm not here on business, well I was, but not anymore." I rubbed the back of my neck.

Adrienne looked at John and then me, and it repeated a few more tines before she let out a small, "Oh."
"And you won't say anything, or else- "
I pointed at her human, that Lafayette guy. She always grew a connection to her human, far stronger than the other Angels, so I knew she'll feel threatened if I said that I might take his life. And she knows I'll do it.

"I won't, I swear to you. " Her eyes panicked for a moment. "Good." I glare at her and she cowers away.

Pathetic.

Angels, very pretty. Very pathetic.

It felt like forever when finnaly the bell rang once more, free from this everlasting hell, which was saying something, I follow John out the door. That's when I realized human schools have more classes to attend to. I cuss out, making the Angels turn my way, as I continued to drag my wings behind John.

Adrienne stayed away from me, but close to Lafayette. Why was she here? Did this Lafayette guy have something wrong with him? Jeez.

Either way it didn't matter, this Lafayette guy made John laugh for more than half the day. And that Herc guy encouraged him throughout the day. He had two wonderful friends, how could things get bad at school with these two?

"Hey fuck face." A teen with blonde hair approaches John and his friends.
"Shove off George." John hissed.

"Tut, tut, oh Johnny someone has to teach you some manners." This George fellow got closer. Lafayette stood in between them, "Fuck off, you don't have the right."

"Oh? Don't I?"

George shoved Lafayette out of the way, making Adrienne shriek.

Stupid fucking Angel, this is one of the reasons I hate them, they don't do shit, mentally sure their okay, but physically? It made me so angry.

As George got closer to John I flapped my wings so hard that mister Blondie over there fell on his arse. The passing teens laughed and the Angels gasped.

John laughed, that's all that mattered to me. As long as I'm here, I hope to hear more of that laughter.

Finnaly the school day was out, Lafayette and Herc walked with John.
I began to notice how, touchy, Lafayette was with John. Was he- was he flirting?

I felt myself get fuiled by rage.

"Hey! Adrienne!" I growled.

She looked a bit scared but nodded for me to continue, "Are these two-" I pointed and Lafayette and John, "Dating?"

"Oh heavens no, only friends, Herc and he are the ones dating, John and Laf."

"But earlier you said they barley began to do something?" I was confused.

She nodded, "Yes, they just began to work on their after school assignments, Lafayette really loves them. "

I grunt, not wanting to discus more.

How am I supposed to assure that John has a happy life when I can't even seem to get over the fact that one day he will be wed to someone who isn't me? I want John to be happy, but to be happy with me. I sighed softly. Another thing to worry about.
