08: birthday date.

and it's almost new year like 1 hour till 12am so HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Jennie POV
I woke up with excitement tingling in my stomach, today was Taehyung's birthday! It was important to me, it's the one day of the year where I could have some cake and get together with the people you love. Speaking of loved ones, I was excited to spend Taehyung's birthday with him this year, since I wasn't able to the year before.

Last night I was up until 12am just to be the first one to wish his birthday.
"Hi, Taehyung!!!"
"It's 12am Jen .. Go to sleep"
"Yah... I stay late just to wish your birthday ."
"Yeah, yeah thank you Jendeukie."
"Mmm Tae ?"
"Why?"
"Let's hang out later okay ?" I'll go to your dorm and we'll have fun together so goodnight and sweet dreams birthday boy"

I hang up immediately after that. I was afraid he was going to refuse my offer. I just want to spend his birthday together even if we're spending them now only as friends.

Taehyung POV
I woke up when I heard my friends were all screaming "Happy Birthday " to me with waffles. After having breakfast and all dressed for the so-called hangout with Jennie although I wished she would say it as a date for some reason, I waited for her to arrive at our dorm.

Jin approaches me and "Oh Tae are you going for a date with Jennie?"
"Not really... She said it was only a hangout between us. "

Shortly after that Jennie arrived and she looked very cute. "Hi, Tae! Let's go "
"Let's go, Nini"

Jennie POV
We were sitting next to each other on the bus but both of us were completely silent. It wasn't an awkward one, it was more like a comfortable silence between us. He broke the silence and ask me "Why are you so full of energy today ?" he was genuinely curious for some reason. "Ahh, it's because it's your birthday. I'm excited to celebrate your birthday for the first time." I really am trying my best to make the most of this day without making it awkward at all but I'm too nervous.
"Ahhh okay then"

We spent the whole day at the amusement park. We ride every ride there was and we both decided to rest for a while. We walk side by side on a sunny day, the skirt of my dress blowing in the wind. I bump Taehyung's shoulder and hold a piece of cotton candy out to him, the sugary goodness sticking to my fingers. He gives me one of his signature rectangular smiles and takes it from me, gesturing to the kids running wild.

"Do you want kids?" He asked.
"Umm, I guess ..."

I look over the busy park, kids yelling and swinging with candy and smiles, making new friends while the parent frantically makes sure to keep eyes on their children.

A little girl scurries past us, pausing in her pursuits to stare at my cotton candy longingly. Taehyung's long arms reach over to pluck a chunk off getting on his knees to be eye level with the cute toddler. "You want some?" He asks playfully, to which the girl nods frantically, taking the cloud from him with chubby fingers. "Here you go, eat well!"

He laughs at her eagerness, cheeks puffing with a smile as she hugs Taehyung. He'd be such a great dad, playing and laughing with our kids- our kids. I stop short for a moment, cheeks turning bright pink at the thought of getting to have kids with Taehyung. Of getting to be with him.

The little girl hurries off to another kid, probably going to brag that she got candy.

"Have you heard the saying boys and girls can't be friends?" He suddenly asks, a lightness to his voice as he stands and continues walking with me.

"Yeah..." I lick my lips, tasting the cotton candy on them. "Why?"

"Do you think it's true?" He waves to a little kid that runs past us, smiling at him happily.

"I don't know. I think if feelings develop who are they to fight them?"

He smiles, almost to himself. "Even if they made a promise to be best friends?"

"Just because you're dating doesn't mean you're not best friends." I counter.

"So what if these two best friends did like each other and the boy asked the girl for a date. What would the girl say?"

"Well, it'd be stupid of her to say no." I shrug, placing another sugary cloud in my mouth and letting it dissolve on my tongue. "So she'd say yes."

"You're so cute, Jendeukie." Taehyung turns, wiping the sugar off the sides of my lips.

I can feel a blush coming across my cheeks, not only at his touch but at his words.

I quickly changed the subject when he started staring at me. "Tae let's ride that one before we go home," I said pointed at the Ferris wheel.

We both were silently admiring the view of the city when he broke the silence.
"Thank you for spending this day with me although you said it was a mere hangout I'll consider this as our first date. It's been so long since I've been on dates and I truly enjoyed my birthday date Jendeukie."

I just stared at him not knowing what to say but I know what's in my heart. Taehyung... I hope you spend your year as bright as today.

"Jen. Do you want to know why I refuse to fall in love?"
