"WHY? ISN'T IT WORKING?", Eggman lost his patience and slapped his robots again. "What did you do to the key, you simpletons?!", Decoe and Becoe cried, "We didn't do anything boss, honest!".
Sonic scratched his head in confusion as Tails stood up. He looked at his device again, just to make sure. "The chaos energy is in there, I know it!", Tails said as everyone sighed.
"Tails, it's a really good effort buddy, but I think, this wouldn't help", Sonic said as everyone nodded.
"This is a nice place, but I don't think the chaos energy is here--"
"But it is here!", Tails interuppted Amy. "I just know it..", he looked at his device sadly and walked towards the door.
"Then how can you explain the key not turning?", Shadow asked.
Tails looked at Shadow and sighed. "I don't know... I'm sorry guys, for wasting your time and making you all follow me and getting us all lost in the middle of nowhere", Tails threw his hands up in frustration as Sonic placed a hand on him.
"Don't give up hope, like Shadow once said--"
"Wait what--"
"NEVER TURN BACK!" Sonic exclaimed as the birds on the trees flew from the sudden loud voice that broke the silence of the night. Shadow nodded, "I did say that.. Didn't I?". Sonic smiled and turned to Tails.
"There is always a way, and I know you will find it". Tails nodded as he felt like he was full of confidence, to prove that his invention wasn't a failure. "Maybe Tails and Eggman can figure things out together?", Cream suggested as everyone gasped, the loudest and most obvious one was Eggman.
"There is no way I will agree to work with that fox boy", the moustached genius replied angrily as Knuckles said, "Oh come on Eggman, are we all going to just sit here not knowing how the door and key works?". Everyone nodded. "We have already spent alot of time, I don't think any of us wants to waste any more time", Amy said.
"She's right Egghead, just try to work with Tails, just this once. Then you can go back to your evil and boring self", Sonic said as Eggman glared at Sonic. "OKAY FINE, but just this once okay?", Eggman joined Tails as both scientific geniuses began their experiments and theories. They began sketching and writing on the sand using little branches.
Meanwhile, Sonic and Knuckles went out to cut down nearby trees for wood. They arrived in a few minutes as everyone gathered around. Amy and Cream prepared marshmallows on branches and distributed to everyone. Shadow then chaos speared the wood to create fire for the campfire to keep everyone warm in the night. They all began to talk about their happy moments as Shadow glanced at his device, it displayed 3.30am. Just then, Tails exclaimed.
"WE'VE GOT IT!!". Everyone turned around to see Tails jumping around excitedly as Eggman had his hand on his head.
"Based on the results we obtained, we think that the chaos energy is stored in the key", Tails said as Sonic exclaimed.
"What? Okay.. First of all, if the chaos energy is in the key, why isn't it transported to the respective places already? And second, if the chaos energy is in the key then what is behind the cave?". Everyone looked at Tails and Eggman if they had an answer to that.
"We don't know how to transport the energy to the respective places Sonic, all we know is that the key has the energy and it has something to do with the thing hidden behind this door, something that links to the chaos energy", Eggman said.
"But, if it does link to the energy, why isn't the door opening, I mean it's the correct key and it should open long time ago", Shadow said.
"It's no use!", Knuckles said. "Angel Island is going to fall and I'm indeed a terrible Guardian of the master emerald", Knuckles worried, "There is no way to save Angel Island now...". The two tailed fox paused to think.
"But if the chaos energy is in the key, the device Tails had should indicate the chaos energy's presence at the key not the cave, right?", Amy Rose argued as everyone started throwing out their opinions in confusion (and frustration).
"SILENCE!" A voice boomed from behind them.
Everyone stopped as a portal appeared out of nowhere. Everyone was held frozen by the cyan powers of a grey hedgehog. He jumped out of the portal, his golden and cyan bracelets shining under the moonlight as he stood afloat in the air, defying gravity.
"No way..."
"What?"
Everyone gasped as the portal swirled in and closed behind him.
"SILVER?"
"You're back?!!!"
