Summer came to an end and Harry packed his things together for another year at Hogwarts. After his last year ended horrible, with a dead and Voldemort's return, he just hoped everything would turn out better this time. Sirius stood at his door, watching his godson with sadness. He just wished he could spend more time with him instead of spending the whole day in his old family house. Remus slowly came up behind his best friend and chuckled. "He will be fine," Remus reassured him, causing Harry to notice the two men behind him.

"Yeah, Sirius. I will be fine," Harry repeated with a grin. Hoping he would actually be fine. Sirius entered the room, followed by Remus. "Maybe after I am finally a free man, we can really live together. Just like we wanted almost over a year ago," Sirius said and sat down on Ron's bed. "Maybe you can have your apple pie life," Remus told his friend and chuckled. His friend's face dropped, "You just sounded like Y/N." Harry looked at Remus, who looked heartbroken. He actually thought that Remus was near to tears. "Who is Y/N?" Harry asked carefully.

Sirius said nothing but looked at Remus. "She was my fiancee," Remus answered and sat down next to Sirius with a sigh escaping his lips. "You wanted to get married?" Harry asked and he nodded, "What happened?" Thinking about what happened, broke his heart all over again. The woman, who truly loved him, died. She just disappeared within a second and he was not able to say goodbye. Sirius softly patted his friend's shoulder, "I will tell the story since I was the last one to see her face."

The dark night sky covered the streets on October 31. Sirius was looking for Peter, the traitor. Tears of anger fell down his face as he looked for him. How could he betray them like that? How could they think it was Remus all the time? "Peter! Show yourself," Sirius screamed as he rushed through the streets. He wanted to know why he did that and end it all. Peter in his cowered posture, came out of the corner. "How could you betray them?" Peter asked him loudly, causing Sirius to look at him with confusion and anger.

"What are you talking about?" Sirius barked at him. "How could you betray them? How could you do that to Lily and James?" Peter asked in a loud voice like he wanted everyone to hear him. "Don't act innocent, Sirius. It is too late," Peter yelled. Sirius was about to curse him. To stop him from lying and blaming him, as a voice called out to him. "Sirius? Peter?" Both men turned around to see Y/N. Tears were streaming down her face. "What, what are you doing here?" Sirius asked looking at her for a moment, before looking back at Peter. He was afraid that he would do something bad again.

"Remus and I, we heard what happened. We split up and I heard some people talking about two men fighting about Lily and James," she came closer. "What is going on here," she asked. "Peter. He betrayed them." Y/N, more confused as ever, looked over to Peter. "Peter...," She whispered as she saw his facial expression. Something like a smile lingered on his lips, "I am sorry, Y/N." Suddenly he cut off his finger, hissing out of pain, before waving his wand. Everything happened too fast. Too fast for Sirius to realize, what just happened. Not only did Peter disappear in the haze, but so did Y/N with her last breath.

In her last seconds, her whole life was in front of her like a movie. Her childhood, Hogwarts and the engagement with Remus. Remus. Her last thought, before she died, was Remus. Sirius screamed out for her as Peter ran away in his Animagus-Form. Sirius walked through the fog, seeing dead Muggle's around him. He prayed and prayed, to find Y/N alive, but as he saw her on the floor with horror on her face, he dropped to his knees. The love of his best friend's life, dead. Just because she didn't stay with Remus. Because Peter was a coward and betrayed them. He cried and cried until the Aurors found him and arrested him. Leaving her dead body behind.

"Remus, I am so sorry," Harry said in a small voice as Remus stood up. New tears of heartbreak and grief rolled down his face. It was like it was yesterday as they were about to get married. All their planes and dreams vanished in a blink. "There is nothing you have to be sorry about, Harry. It's not your fault and also not Sirius," Remus whispered and turned to Sirius, who looked sad too. "I am sorry for blaming you all those years," Remus apologized, causing Sirius to stand up as well and hug his friend. "Don't feel sorry. You had no idea what really happened," Sirius told him and pulled away, "She is always by our side, even when we don't see her. Y/N would never allow herself to leave your side."

Y/N really watched over Remus all those long years. She couldn't be prouder to see the person, he was today and that he was next to Sirius again. Knowing the truth of what really happened. She did miss him, but she waited patiently for him to come home. To her.
