Jimin’s pov

“Because I like him,” Song Mi announced. My mind spun. I had never thought that to be true. I had so many questions I didn't even see how the other two reacted. After a few moments of confusion, Song Mi’s comment snapped me back to life, “as a friend, duh.”

While the other two erupted in a chorus of “ooooh’s,” I frowned. “Then why would you ask me that question?”

“Because I feel like he hates me..” she replied. Her tone was deflated and quieter this time, and a small pink colored appeared on her cheeks, embarrassed at her thought. I chuckled.

“Haha, no way. Hoseok hyung doesn’t hate anyone. If he did, they’d had to have done something terrible. He hasn’t known you long enough to hate you, Song Mi.”

Song Mi pauses for a moment. She seemed to be deep in thought, as she was staring blankly at the floor. Then, she looked up, wearing a sad smile, “What if I did do something terrible?”

My mouth parted without me knowing. “Well there’s no way he would’ve known it so soon, right?”

“What if-”

“Song Mi’s just kidding,” Jungkook interrupts. He leans closer to me, “She really wants to know what you think of her,” he whispers, winking. The statement made me blush.

Song Mi slaps his arm. “Hey! What did you just say to him?!”

“Calm down now, calm down. I know you care about his opinion, but no need to get violent.”

“Jungkooook,” Song Mi growled angrily, glaring at the kid.

“Jungkook, did you tell him what I think you told him?” Taehyung laughed.

“Depends… Mayyyybe?” Jungkook raised his eyebrows playfully, then immediately reverted back to being in pain from Song Mi’s constant attacks.

“Maybe I should get going. It’s getting late, we should all sleep. Song Mi has school tomorrow, right?” I stared at her in wonder. If what Jungkook said was true…

“OH RIGHT! SHOOT I STILL HAVEN’T FINISHED HOMEWORK!” Song Mi scrambled off the floor, wiping off the dust on her pants. “Ok everybody leave. Shoo, scram!” And with that, we were rushed out of the room.

I couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction. It was cute. “Good night, don't sleep too lat” I waved as I was shoved out.

“W-wait but-” Taehyung was rejected by the slamming of a door. He pouted. I slapped my hand on his shoulder and just nodded at him.

Then, I made my way to my room and flopped on the bed, where I dived deep into my thoughts. Jungkook’s lying, no doubt about it. But why?

Jungkook’s pov

I watched the other two leave for their rooms, and waited a second or two before knocking on Hye Soo’s door. As if she knew it was me, the door opened. I walked back into the room i had left only half a minute ago and stared at her curiously, my hands stuffed in my pockets.

She seemed neither bothered nor relaxed; there was no sign of it on her face, but her shoulders were a bit tense, her eyes somewhat wistful. I wondered what was going on in her head, what she was going to say had I not stopped her.

“So are you just going to keep looking at me or?” she asked, bringing me back into reality.

“Oh, right. Sorry,” I answered, flustered.

“Heh, I know I’m mesmerizing but it’s rude to stare.”

“Don’t act cocky, you know no one finds you attractive.”

“Hey- ok yes, I know but no need to rub it in. Why are you here anyways?”

"You know, the plan will play out interestingly now that you're living with us."

"Hey," Hye Soo began, "I didn't agree to it yet."

“I know. Anyways, what were you going to say to Jimin before I interrupted you?”

“Shouldn’t I be the one asking what you said to him when you interrupted me? You didn’t expect me to just blurt out my life story, right?”

“I mean isn’t that what you did with Taehyung?”

“That’s different. He caught me. Jimin doesn’t know anything.”

“Well he knows you’re interested in him.”

“That doesn- wait what?” she halted her argument to glare at me again. “Wait… WHAT?”

“Nothiiing…”

“Jeon Jungkook, did you tell him I liked him?”

“You know I’m bad at lying.”

“YOU LITTLE-” Hye Soo stopped herself before she regretted it and clenched her fists, “then you should’ve said a twisted truth, instead.”

“Hey I know it’ll be awkward-”

“No, it’s not about things being awkward.”

“What do you mean?”

“You’ve been living with him for years now. If he knows you’re lying then what will he think?”

“That I’m trying to cover for you? It’s not that suspicious.”

“I guess so. But I just, I just feel bad.”

“For what? Lying to him?”

“Not just him, but everyone. I feel bad for burdening you guys and staying here. I feel bad that Hoseok has to see my face everyday now.”

“Okay, stop, Hye-” I lowered my voice to a whisper, “Hye Soo.” I grabbed her shoulders. “You don’t have to feel bad. You shouldn’t. Everything will be fine.”

“How can you guarantee that?” she replied, her voice a little shaky.

“There’s an end to everything, good things and not so good things. This will end.”

“What if it feels worse when it ends?"

I hesitated for a moment, locking my eyes with hers. I sighed and pulled her into a hug. “Then I’ll be there to comfort you.”

She stayed silent for a moment. “Really?”

“Of course. What are friends for?”

I felt her arms snake around my waist. “You’re a good friend, Jungkook.”

“I’ve been telling you.” She laughed abruptly at my comment. It was nice to hear her genuinely laugh again.
