I went to my room and headed straight for the shower. The blood on my clothes was making them stick to me in the most awkward of ways, making me uncomfortable. I stripped and enjoyed as the cool water washed away the blood and the stress, which had taken it's toll on my body.
I had a lot to think about. I had to speak to my mate. He was going back to Europe in a week and we had to decide what would happen. The correct thing to do would be for me to go back there with him, but we are not under normal circumstances. My pack is being attacked constantly by the vampires and I can't just abandon them. I can't abandon my family. My pack was strong and I don't doubt we could handle the vampires without a problem. The thing is: it's my problem as much as it is theirs. I'm the person in charge of strategizing and, until this war is over, I can't leave. I can't just leave them to the wolves, or to the vampires in this case.
With that thought in mind, I step out of the shower and head towards my closet. I decide on a pair of black chiffon pants, a silver off the shoulder blouse and black pumps. I let my hair down and apply minimal makeup.
I exit my room and descend the stairs. Once at the dinning room I took my place besides my mate. Dinner was served and it was exquisite as usual. That girl, Luisa I think was her name, had her shoulder full of bandages which gave me some satisfaction. I've killed people for less, she attacked me, the only reason she's alive is because we have to preserve the treaty.
Small chatter was heard all through out the dinner, but nothing significant. Those talks were reserved for the higher ranking members meetings. After I was done, I excused myself and went upstairs, to my room. I had removed my heels and my makeup when my mate knocked at my door. I knew it was him because of the smell. I could smell him, since he set foot on the fourth floor. Such an addicting smell...
I snap out of my haze and go to open the door. There he stands in all his glory, dressed in navy dress pants and a grey dress shirt with a navy tie. How was he so damn handsome?
"Come in." I say as I step aside and let him through. Once he is inside the room I close the door. I guide him ove to the sitting area in my room, which consist of: a loveseat and a recliner, where I do most of my reading. I go to the loveseat as to leave him the recliner since it's more comfortable and it would be the polite thing to do. Instead of sitting, though, he stands leaning against the wall, with his arms crossed and his legs crossed at the ankles.
"So... what are we going to do?" I ask breaking the silence, I couldn't handle his intense gaze in silence any longer.
"About?" He asks cooly.
"About us being mates, about my pack needing me here, about everything." I state the obvious. What else could I possibly be talking about?
"Well, you'll need someone to take over your tasks for when you come to Europe." He explains nonchalantly as if it's clear as day.
I look him straight in the eye to see if he's serious. Seems like he is. "I can't leave with you."
His face becomes so serious, "and why can't you?" he asks in a threatening voice. He gets up from the wall and starts itching closer to me, like a predator hunting his prey. I must admit, combined with the intimidating stare he was giving me, that voice had my body reacting in ways it shouldn't.
"I'm needed here, I can't just abandon my pack. I have a duty to fulfill." I say with as much strength as I can muster. His face inches away from mine, making me a bit nervous. Why was I nervous?
"The only duty your pretty ass has to fulfill is standing by my side." Who does this misogynistic pig think he is? My blood was boiling. How dare he?
"Get out." I say in a low calm voice, whispering as for he was so close.
"That didn't come out as I wanted it to." He corrects himself once he notices his slip up, lifting himself away from me and sitting besides me on the loveseat. I limit myself to a short, curt nod. "But, you're still coming back to Europe with me. That's not negotiable." Possessive Alphas...
"What do you suggest then?" I offer, if he proposes an appropriate solution to my conundrum, I might consider going with him. In all honesty, now that I've met him, I don't think I could muster the strength to be that far away for him for long because of the mate bond. Not that I would ever tell him that, though.
"We find someone better..." I scoff. As if. "...or at least as good as..." I muster a look of indignation . I'm the best and he better shut up. "...someone who's really good then." He tries again, I smile at him, liking his new choice of words.
"I guess that could work..." I trail off. "And for the mate part?"
"What about it? You'll be going to Europe with me where you'll be my luna. There's not much to it." He deadpans.
"We're really doing this, aren't we?" I ask him, looking him straight in the eye.
"We are." He replies calmly.
"Then I guess we'll tell my pack tomorrow morning that we're mates." I finish and he nods as I walk him to the door. He walks of to his room without another word and I go to bed with the events of tomorrow running through my head.
