"The vampires are getting too close for comfort." Established my father. It was currently nine in the morning, and we were discussing the treaty. By we, I mean Alpha Grimaldi, his Delta (third in command), father, my brother, Eric (our beta) and myself.
"They plan on destroying us werewolves, by going for all the woman first. One of them even attacked Gianna." My brother added. At this, my mate growled lowly. Everyone passed it off as him being worried for the woman of his pack, but I knew he was unpleased with his mate being attacked. It's part of nature.
It was true, I was ambushed while running in the woods a few months ago. The bloodsucker had jumped me from behind. I broke his neck before his disgusting fangs could puncture my neck. "Well... he tried." I nonchalantly, correcting my brother. The vampire didn't stand a chance.
"We will help you." My mate concluded finally, in his thick french accent. How did I not notice his accent before? I was for sure too hypnotized by his eyes. They weren't going to fight our war for us. But, if it came down to it, they would help us. As we would them, if the European Shadow pack ever needed help.
"Gianna will update you on all her finds, Alpha Grimaldi. She has been spying on the vampires for a while now."My father concluded and everyone left the conference room except for Mason and me.
He stood up and walked over to me. He was clad in dress pants and a button up shirt, with his sleeves rolled up. His muscles were impossible to miss. They were evident every time his arms moved. My mate was a work of art. He sat in the chair right next to me."The vampires are organized, these aren't just ordinary attacks. They are planned, meticulously calculated..."
"Why'd you say I don't deserve you?" Mason cut me off, leaving me perplexed.
"I was angry." I replied curtly and continued. "The only way to infiltrate the vampires..."
"Why?" He caught me off again. The surprising thing was the calmness of his tone. He wasn't giving anything away.
"Because you obviously don't want a mate. So it's not fair that I'm mates with probably the only male wolf that would reject me. May I continue?"
"No. You shall continue later, we're discussing other matters right now." The nerve of this guy. "And, I wouldn't reject you." He finished.
"That's nice to know, I guess. I will escort you to where I spy on the leeches." I stood up and started walking out of the room.
He is a very confusing guy who was messing with my head and I needed to concentrate just to try and understand him. Then again, it could also be the way his smell makes me loose a couple neurons.
In the hallway, we ran into Eric. Now, Eric and I are not dating but we do help each other with our urges. No risk of falling in love, no commitment (since we would both eventually meet our mates), just a fling. He certainly did not know Alpha Mason Grimaldi was my mate or else he wouldn't have uttered the following words that tumbled out of his mouth.
"Gigi, when your done with the Alpha, come up to my room. I... need you." The tone of his voice gave away exactly what he needed me for.
In a flash, Mason was in front of him, his back to me, grabbing him by his neck and easily lifting him of the floor.
"How dare you?" His voice sent shivers down my spine, it was so cold and calculating, yet so hot. The way his arm flexed had me in awe. "Give me a good reason why I shouldn't strangle you right now."
I suddenly snapped back to reality and stopped fantasizing about my mate. "He didn't know Alpha Grimadi, nobody does." I tried, but he didn't let go.
"Not good enough." He whispered lowly as he squeezed harder. Eric was turning red and I was running out of options. I stepped forward and touched his arm.
"Let him go." I tried again. Mason looked at me and thought it over for a while, suddenly Eric was on the floor. "Don't let it happen again, pup." Eric was going to say something about the condescending nickname but the look I gave him made him tighten his lips, get up and leave."What the hell was that?" I asked calmly once Eric had left.
Mason looked at me as if I were crazy. "You should be thankful I didn't kill your little lover, not questioning me." He growled.
"Thankful? That was uncalled for. Yes, we had an affair going on, but I didn't have a mate back then. Plus, it's not like you've never slept with anyone before." I snarled.
He pushed me against the wall and held my hands above my head. "That better be over now." The warning was clear, my mate was pissed. No wolf would be okay with knowing their mate slept with somebody else, never mind it being flaunted in their face.
"It is." I replied and pushed him off me. "Now, if we may continue." I turned around and walked out of the pack house with my mate trailing behind me. I led him through the woods. It was a long walk, about half an hour. We had to pass multiple guards on the way. They all bowed their heads in respect at both of us when we passed. My pack was a firm believer in respect and it was currently shown. That's part of what made us such a strong pack, everyone knew their place and knew not to step over the established boundaries. Respect was the key to running a great pack.
When we were five minutes away from the vampire pack, a smell filled the air. Bloodsuckers. A lot of them. We were being ambushed, I looked over at my mate who, judging by his tense and rigid posture, had already notice the unwanted visitors.
They circled around us. I counted quickly, there were twenty five of them. For ordinary wolves, this would mean a death sentence. But I was a trained assassin and an alpha's daughter and, my mate, according to rumors, was also a ruthless killer.
"Run when I tell you to, I'll handle them." My mate declared.
"No. I can handle them as well. Why don't you run?" I replied mockingly.
"Are you challenging me?" He asked raising his eyebrow, accent thick as ever.
"I believe I am, Grimaldi. Whoever kills the most bloodsuckers wins."
He looked me up and down and smirked, "It's on, Kuchno." At that we both launched.
