I didn't respond to any of his texts. He tried apologizing; he tried striking up our conversation from a week ago; he even tried changing the subject completely. It didn't matter. I was obviously ignoring him
One morning I went to drop by at starbucks to get some refreshing coffee, My eyes scanning the room the moment I was inside.
Letting out a sigh of relief, I spotted Alex right in the corner and immediately my back was to him, but he recognized me and called out my name
Quickly sipping his coffee, he continued to glance in my direction to ensure I didn't get up and leave. With a cup in hand, he dropped into the seat across from me, but his lopsided grin fell the moment my eyes snapped up to meet his.
The good morning died on his lips as my expression hardened to a glare.
"You told me you loved me."
Taken aback by my sudden declaration, he set his cup of coffee on the tabletop and frowned. "What?"
"You did. You said you loved me. And I thought maybe.. just maybe I felt the same way too. But… you're… gah, Alexander, you're a slut."
He released a bark of laughter. "It was after I went clubbing that night before. That's what I do." I knew that. "She was just a friend who was there when I needed you know, itching."
I'd shot the bottle of syrup and pancake mix on the table a look and split with a terrified expression crumpling my pretty features.
"Well then don't tell women like me that you have feelings for them," I snapped. He'd never seen me so angry. Beneath it all I could tell he already sense where this conversation goes.
"And she was just a friend? Just.A.Friend?! since when did you start playing as Justin Timberlake now?"
He sighed, frowning down at his coffee as he ran his finger up the side of the paper cup. "I just keep finding all the wrong girls."
I laughed. "You're finding all the wrong girls because you're looking in all the wrong places."
"I met you," he replied. His eyes were narrowed slightly, and I sucked in a breath at the fierce expression blazing in his dark orbs.
"Alex, I know you're such a manwhore but .. please, you're 23. Young Wild and free but it doesn't give you a right to break hearts"
"You broke mine years ago"
Oh brother
"I did and I regret that .. and all the other hearts I've played and crushed without a second thought. see? Karma ko na to .. Now the guy I love doesn't want me the way I wanted him"
I sighed, This conversation isn't going anywhere
I was about to stand on my feet and grab my purse when he blurted out
"Did you really broke off the wedding? Iñigo mentioned it to me"
"You're discussing my love life with my brother?"
He felt suddenly shy about it but he nodded "Is it because of what I said to you over the phone?"
"Partly yes .. you're one of the reason. I was scared that I'll lose you too. It sucks but a part from that I just felt like it didn't seem right despite the fact that I love him"
He remained silent for awhile as I felt him studying my expression
"And .. " I took a harsh breath and close my eyes, hesitant if I say it to him too
"He slept with his secretary."
He hissed "That bastard pano na si Scarloe?"
"I know, I dont need him anyway.. I could raise my child alone"
"But I'm here for you" He took my hand and gazed straight into my eyes
"Thank you, Alex." I withdraw my hands and caressed his cheeks
"You're actually easy to love with.. but right now maybe it's really the best for us to stay as friends"
I finally had the courage to stood up from where I sat and smiled down at him, he just sat there still staring at me before siya sumunod sa akin para i-hatid sa parking lot
"Maybe you're right, Diane.. But if you needed a shoulder to cry on, I'll always be there right away"
I smiled and planted a swift peck on his cheek "Thank you, Alex .. 'Til then"

Seven o'clock in the morning and I, Diane-ever-gorgeous- Bustamante, is apparently running down the street in my stilettos, completely out of breath.
Normally, I would still be in bed at this time, but Cate called me this morning, telling me that I just had to get to work immediately for something or another.
I had hung up by then though, too late for her explanation. I didn't even have breakfast this morning. Whatever is happening at the office, it better be important, or I will go into full bitch mode.
As I approach the Bustamante Corporation building, I can already see the crowd beyond the double doors.
What the hell is going on?
I push my way through the crowd only to find that everyone is simply waiting for the elevators. Some people, tired of waiting, are choosing to take the stairs instead.
Fuck that. I'm not walking up nine flights of stairs in these heels.
I catch a waving hand in the corner of my eye then and spot Cate, dorky glasses and all.
"You want to tell me what's going on here?" I ask, beyond curious now.
This better be good.
"Weren't you listening to the chairman yesterday? The newest member of the board is coming in today!" she whispers excitedly as we try to pile into the next available elevator. "Apparently, one of the newest member of the board will attend the meeting."
"New member?" I repeat, before complaining, "He's the reason I'm coming in for work early today? I hate him already."
"Actually," Cate corrects me, readjusting her glasses on the bridge of her nose. "Your Dad is the one to blame for that. He wants to brief us in the meeting room before Mr. Eihalmburgh arrives."
"Eilhalmburgh? Sounds so foreign in my tongue"
"Yes, Mr. Eihalmburgh "
Maybe that guy must've been old bald and cranky
"Nice to know," I say, not even trying to pretend like I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing how this Eihalmburgh guy looked like
"It's the man from the plane," I hiss, ducking behind a pillar, taking Cate, my secretary, with me. Yes, My secretary I'm now working under Dad's company, Bustamante Corporation, as Chief Finance Officer and I'm proud to say that I've been working on the company for about three months now
At first Dad was worried of me having a special treatment in his company since I was his daughter and he wasn't wrong about that. Eveyone around me seems to get their ears around when I pass by but as days went by, I did my best and prove them wrong
That I am more than just another pretty face and I deserve the spot in the company but --- Wait, back to reality! I am now suprised and dumbfounded to see that guy who sat beside me on the plane was now walking right now to our direction
"Oh my gosh!" Cate shouts a little too loudly. "Where?"
I signal for her to hush, but I'm too late. He catches my eye. Maybe he won't recognize me, but the twinkle in his eyes is telling me otherwise.
Please don't come over here. Please don't come over here.
"Diane, right?" he questions with a smirk, joining us.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
"Uh, hello again," I say, absolutely mortified that this is happening to me. "Liam, right?"
"Yes," he responds before addressing Cate. "Cate I suppose?"
Ofcourse he knew her .. her nameplate is right there just above her breast!
"Uh, yes," Cate confirms, shaking his hand. "Are you a friend of Diane's?" She asked to be polite, mostly to cover for my non-responsiveness.
He looks at me then and I can see him putting two and two together.
"Ah," he says, clearly amused, more so than he already is. "I see. No, Im actually here for a meeting"
He trails off with a wink and Cate giggles. Ugh.
Only she would find him charming. It's probably that British accent of his. British accents can make anything sound charming.
Wait-- What did he say?! Meeting?!
"So you're the new investor and member of the board?" I muttered in disbelief
"Yes .. I'm Mr. Eihalmburgh your new member of the board, William Eihalmburgh"
Holy Crap!
