School started up two days later. And it sucked. You could everyone wanted to be done, especially the seniors. The motivation level was at an all-time low.

"I am not doing this," I announced to Grayson setting down my pencil. He raised his eyebrows at me from across the table. We were in the library during our study hall and I was one hundred percent done with my AP English class.

"You have like, two questions left, Al. Just finished the damn thing."

"I don't want to."

He rolled his eyes. "You're like talking to a second grader."

I stuck out my tongue at him.

"See? That just proves my point."

I sighed and picked up my pencil, scratching down two answers to the last problems. They probably made absolutely no sense.

"Where do you want to go to dinner tomorrow night?" Grayson asked, not looking up from his worksheet.

"Dinner?"

He glanced up at me. "Yeah. It's prom, Al..."

"Oh yeah. I don't care. Suprise me."

He raised his eyebrows. "Suprise you?"

"Yep," I said, popping the "p" on the word. "Wait, aren't we going on a double date with Ethan and Mina?"

"No," Grayson shook his head. "Ethan told me no way was that happening."

I laughed. "Why?"

Grayson smirked. "Because I look better than him a tux, obviously."

"Well I don't doubt that but I think he may have had another reason."

Grayson shrugged. "They're probably going to get it on somewhere and don't want us around."

I made a face.

"Yeah, I know." He shook his head going back to his worksheet. The bell finally rang what seemed like an eternity later. I grabbed my stuff, walking to the door with Grayson. "I'll text you after practice, okay?"

"Sounds good," I answered as we went our separate ways. I met up with Mina for our last period of the day. She, of course, chattered about prom the whole time and through most of the class. I just rested my head on my hand. I really thought prom was a little overdone but I didn't dare say that aloud.

I would probably get mauled and roasted alive for saying that.

"T-minus four hours!" Mina announced dancing around the room. I looked up at her from my perch on her bed. "That's so long."

She stopped her dancing to look at me. "Seriously? That's like no time at all!"

I rolled my eyes. "I guess this means I have to start my make-up now."

"Damn right it does. You need to get a move on."

I groaned and rolled off the bed. I padded over to Mina's vanity where she had already finished using almost every product available. I set to work putting on concealer and blush before moving to my eyes. I swiped on some eyeliner and finished up with mascara. Then Mina descended on my hair, brushing it out and slathering it in something I couldn't pronounce the name of.

She curled it before gathering it all in an intricate braid and pinning it up. She tugged out a few hairs around my face. "There. All done." I glanced at myself in the mirror. I was almost unrecognizable."

"You're really good," I told her. "You should be a hairdresser."

"I know," She responded. "I'm just too good at everything. How will I ever pick a career?"

I rolled my eyes at her dramatics, going to find my dress. I slipped it on and looked at myself in the mirror. It was long and black, the train descending on the ground like a midnight pool. The sleeves were lacy and see-through, going all the way down to my wrists. The chest was a deep cut V-neck that was a little scandalous, I supposed. But I was absolutely in love with it and I'd only shown it to my mom. Not even Mina had seen it yet.

Senior Prom here I come.

Mina was already dressed when I went back into the room. Her rose gold dress shimmered as she moved. She spun around and her jaw dropped. "Holy shit, Alanna."

I let out a chuckle.

"I don't think I can take pictures with you," Mina said. "Because you have outdone me by a long shot."

"Oh please, you look sexy as fuck," I told her and she spun around. "I'll bet Ethan will think so too."

"Girls," Mina's mom called. "The boys are here. Come down so we can get pictures."

"Coming!" Mina called back. Both her mom and my mom were downstairs probably already driving the twins crazy. I swiped on some dark lipstick and glanced in the mirror one last time.

"Ready?" Mina asked.

"Ready," I answered.

We walked out into the hall and down the stairs. My mom spotted us first. "You both look so beautiful," she gushed.

Grayson and Ethan turned around.

Grayson's eyes fastened on me and his jaw went slack. He walked over and ran a hand through his hair. "Holy shit," he muttered looking me up and down. "You look amazing."

I blushed. "And you look handsome."

He grinned. "I try." He looked at me again. "How did I get so lucky?"

I pecked his cheek. "Luck had nothing to do with it."

"Outside!" Mina's mother called with her camera in hand. "Hurry before the sun sets!"

Mina looped her arm through Ethan's as they went out the door first. Grayson and I followed. We took a bunch of pictures under the huge tree in the front yard before both our moms were satisfied. Then we each climbed into our separate vehicles.

I clicked the seatbelt over my dress as Grayson started the car. "Where are we going?"

He put the car in reverse, backing out of the driveway. "It's a suprise, remember?"

"Right. A suprise." I looked out the window. "Does this suprise have anything to do with pizza?"

"Alright, who told you?"

"Nobody." I chuckled. "You're just predictable." I leaned over and kissed him. "But that's okay. I like predictable and I happen to like you, Grayson Dolan."
