"It's fucking pitch black out. I cannot see a single fucking thing, Ethan." Grayson growled from the driver's seat. I climbed into the passenger seat next to him after I threw my bags in the trunk.
Ethan huffed from the backseat where Mina was already sleeping on top of him. "Listen, this was the cheapest flight left that I could find. Be grateful I found it at all."
"Oh, I'll be grateful that's for sure," Grayson muttered under his breath as I buckled my seat belt. "Ready?"
I nodded, still waking up myself. I waved sleepily to my parents from where they stood on the porch as Grayson backed out of the driveway. The roads were deserted considering it was 4:00 in the morning. We left the neighborhood pulling onto the highway that led to the airport. Grayson let out a yawn as I gazed out the window at the darkened landscape.
Eventually, we made it to the airport. Grayson parked in the parking garage and Ethan gently shook Mina awake. "Babe, come on, we've got to go."
She groaned, pulling herself up sleepily. I opened up my door and hopped out, meeting Grayson by the trunk. He yanked out my suitcase, handing it to me and then retrieved his own. I found my carry on bag, slipping it over my shoulders. We both walked around to the front of the car while Ethan got his and Mina's bags.
"I like this," I commented tugging Grayson's hat that he wore. He managed a half smile. "There was no way I was spending time doing my hair so I just threw it on."
"Well, you should wear it more often. Makes you much more attractive."
He chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind."
"Alright," Ethan said, coming around the car. "I think we're finally set."
Mina appeared behind him.
"Damn, are you staying for three weeks?" I asked her, eyeing the 2 huge bags she had.
"Haha, very funny." She replied. "I have needs."
Grayson smirked at Ethan. "Good luck, bro."
Ethan rolled his eyes and we began to walk to the airport. It was a little crowded but not too bad when we reached the doors. We walked through, going up to process our tickets first. We stood in line for a little before heading to security. I slipped off my shoes and set them in the bin provided. Grayson took off his hat, setting it in there as well.
I began to laugh at the sight of his hair. He turned around and shook his head. "I told you it was bad," he complained trying to smooth it down.
"Come here," I said between laughs. He complied, bending down a little so I could comb it back. "There, that should be a little better."
"You two are just adorable!" An older lady gush as she and her husband passed by us. "Just adorable."
Ethan snorted from behind me as Grayson blushed. "Thank you," I told the lady. She just smiled at me and continued on her way.
"Hear that, Gray? You and Alanna are adorable." Ethan elbowed his brother.
"Shut up," Grayson said rolling his eyes.
"Well at least your hair looks better," Mina pointed out.
"Next!" The security guard called.
Mina walked through first, then Ethan, me and finally Grayson. Once we reached the other side Ethan looked at his watch. "Alright, so we have to get to gate C4 by 4:45."
"It's right over there," Mina pointed to a sign posted on the wall.
"Well that was easy," I said. "Coffee?"
"Yes," the three of them chorused in unison.
We filed over to the Starbucks a little ways down and placed our orders. I took a sip of my iced coffee, closing my eyes. "This is so good."
"I have no idea how you drink that black," Mina said with a disgusted look on her face.
I shrugged. "It's not that bad once you get used to it." She just shook her head at me.
The four of us trooped back to our gate and sat down in the waiting area. We didn't have a straight flight from New Jersey to Flordia, we had to change planes in North Carolina before going all the way to Jacksonville. It was going to be a long day for us. I opened my phone, texting my parents that we'd made it to the airport safely and on time.
A little while later, they called for our plane to be boarded. Grayson went first, me following closely behind. We handed the flight attendant our tickets and she accepted them, smiling brightly at us. "Enjoy your trip."
I thanked her, following Grayson down into the narrow hallway that led to the plane.
The very, very narrow hallway.
I felt my heart speed up and I kept focused on Grayson's back as we walked through and boarded the plane. Our seats were near the front and Grayson, with Mina and Ethan in the row behind us.Grayson shoved his bag in the overhead compartment and then put mine in there as well. He slid into the row first so I could sit by the aisle. I settled down next to him, thankful that there were only two seats per row, not three.
"So far, so good?" Grayson asked me quietly as I watched the rest of the passengers file on.
"So far, so good," I answered back. "I also plan to sleep through this whole flight though, so sorry if I'm not much company."
"Oh don't worry, I plan to sleep too." He told me. Then the pilot's voice came over the intercom. "This is your pilot speaking. We will be preparing for takeoff momentarily. We ask that you turn off all electronic devices and fasten your seatbelts. Please stay seated and thank you for choosing to fly with South West Airlines."
"Ayyy, Flordia here we come!" Ethan whooped loudly from behind us. Several people turned to look in our direction.
"Babe, we have to stop in North Carolina first before we make it to Flordia," Mina told Ethan laughing.
"I am so not related to him," Grayson muttered dropping his head into his hands.
"Yeah, I hate to break it to you but you're identical twins. So everyone here knows you're related." I told him with a small laugh.
Grayson groaned and just buried his head further in his hands. "Spring break here we come."
