After the briefing, Ben returned to his room. He hid the saber under his mattress and sat heavily.
Fool!
"I did not wish to kill them at that moment!"
Then when do you intend to?
Ben paused. "When my uncle returns. Then I can end the Jedi, once and for all."
A pitiful excuse, but there is some reason. In the meantime, go to Quinn and Wyal.
"I was going to go to bed."
Now.
Ben heaved to his feet and made a face at nobody. He searched out the two boys. They were in their room. He went straight to it and rapped on the door.
Quinn opened it. "Master Solo."
"Padawan," he said with a nod. "May I enter?"
"Of course."
The door closed behind him. "What is it?" Wyal asked.
Ben hesitated.
Tell them, greetings from Master.
He cleared his throat. "Greetings, from Master."
They blinked at him. Quinn seemed to be listening to something, his head cocked to the side. "You, too?"
Ben nodded.
"A knight? Is that what he has said to you?"
Again, he nodded.
Wyal looked him steadily in the eyes. "What has he instructed us to do?"
Ben told them.
"When?"
"As soon as Master Luke returns."
"By the Force, I hope it is soon," Wyal says. "I don't think I could stay strong of will for long."
Fortunately for the three, Luke returned the next day, with news and supplies from Dunov.
Ben postponed their strike. "Let Master Skywalker settle back in. Lull him into comfort, then strike when he is least aware."
Quinn was antsy, but Wyal agreed.
Ben slept well that night, knowing that soon he would see Master, the only one who truly cared, face to face. At last.
Until, a voice.
Ben! Wake up!
His eyes snapped open and he saw green light above him and heard the unmistakable sound of Luke's lightsaber. His hand fell on his own saber and he turned to combat him.
With a push, he threw the older man into the wall, and pulled down the metal and timbers on top of him.
Then he swapped to his red lightsaber, discarding his green one for the last time, and strode to Quinn and Wyal's room. "Now."
The new children were all sleeping on the floor in the main dining room until sufficient barracks could be built.
Wyal closed and jammed the door. Then he and Quinn went to opposite sides of the room.
Ben ignited his red-as-blood saber. The first child was dead before she could scream.
