Chapter 3

"Dans?" Remus whispered, shaking me gently.

"Monsters, they are different, Remus, I don't think it's some one else anymore," I whispered tiredly.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean I think that I am the monster in my dreams," I said, my voice cracking.

"What?" Remus yelped, pulling me off of him and making me face him.

I sat quietly for a moment,"Im so tired of being here, suppressed by all my childish fears. And if you have to leave, I want you to leave. Leave me alone, my wounds won't heal, the pains to much!"

I stood and turned away from him, wiping my tears angrily.

"What do you mean?" Remus whispered.

"There's just to much for time to erase, every time I cry, you wipe my tears away, you think your the monster, but your not!," I dug my nails into my palms, "This pain is to much to erase, you hold my hand and keep me by your side, but just let go. I'm the monster here, not you, not James, not Sirius, not Peter, not Icess, n-not anyone! Not Mitch! Not Jerome! Not Tara, not Misty, not Lilly! Not Severus, not Lucius, not Dolores! Me! I'm the monster! Not Voldamort! Not the death eaters! Not the werewolves, or vampires!"

Remus stared wide eyes as I went on, "How can you stare at me as if I'm a open door? How can you stare at someone as soulless as me!"

"Because your my sister," he said softly.

I ignored him, "Wake me up! Wake me up! Save me from my self!"

Remus hopped up from the ground, "You never tell me what your nightmares are about! How can I help you! I always wake you up! I try to save you!"

I turned on him, "Be cause I need to be saved from my self!"

Remus stopped yelling, but a cold look crossed over his features, "Only thy person can save thy self from thy self."

We didn't bring it back up after that.

Sunshine draped though the leaves of the trees like a coat, giving me a strange sense of déjà vou. Last time I had headed though this forest, I was going for a friendly fun filled time at the beach with some of my best friends, but this time was for a different matter. Severus had sent me a letter, a letter that was clenched in my fist.

Dear Danni,

I was doing some research over the summer and need to speak to you, bring Cleon with as well,

Severus Snape

So, here I was walking back down this path- except no one knows where I went this time, except for Remus. The sand and beach came into view and I changed into Ringtail. Cleon leaped down from a tree beside me.

'You know he's figured it out, haven't you?' Cleon meowed as we padded out on to the golden sand.

'I had a feeling, I just hope he won't hate me,' I replied. Severus was sitting in the sand, watching us come over in a pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt, his long black hair pulled back in a pony tail.

I changed back after making sure there were no witnesses.

Severus stood up,"Hello Danni."

"Severus," I replied easily.

"You've been keeping secrets," Severus said cooly.

"I aways have, haven't i?" I replied just as cooly.

"But this one was a much darker secret," Severus said, eyes narrowed.

"Of course it is," I said looking past him at the water.

Severus sighed, "It's alright, I just want to help."

"And how would you do that?" Cleon asked.

Severus looked me right in the eye, "Potions, calming ones to help keep it under control. I can create spells too, I'm working on a few right now, inside my potions book."

"The one that is 'Property of the Half-Blood Prince?" Cleon asked.

Severus nodded, "Of course."

I gave him a small smile," What spell?"

Severus grinned, the earlier tension in the air gone, "One to hang cats by their tails." Cleons fur fluffed up and he shot a fearful glare at Severus. "Not that I would use it on you, Cleon," he added.

Cleon sat down, "I wanted to test something."

"Test what?" Both me and Severus asked at the same time.

Cleon rolled his eyes before continuing, "Ringtail, take Snippy's hand."

Severus blushed as I did what Cleon told me and I rolled my eyes.

"Think really hard about a animal," Cleon instructed. I closed my eyes and thought of a puppy. Soft, velvety white ears, brown spots, brown footed paws, sharp teeth-

"Now look," Cleon said proudly. I opened my eyes to see a puppy exactly like I thought of sprawled against the sand.

'Why is everything so small?!' The puppy wailed. I stood shakily, suddenly feeling weak.

"How do you feel, Ringtail?" Cleon asked, but looked slightly panicked.

I didn't have time to respond as I toppled over, crushing the puppy.

'AH!" The puppy screeched.

I groaned and Cleon jumped up, "That's not supposed to happen."

I felt my grip on consciousness loosen and fell into the vast darkness.
